Personally I like Reno, everyone who has posted relevant info is on the mark. You have to carve out some time to see Lake Tahoe etc. A good day trip is head west on I-80 to Truckee then cut over and head to South Lake via the west side of the lake. Then from there you can loop around the whole lake and take 50 -> 395 back to Reno. The comps are great because Reno is hurting for customers due to the multiple Indian casinos opening in the and around the bay area. Locals feel why go all the way Reno when I can head to Cache creek in half the time and with Vegas as the popular draw Reno just hangs in there. As far as luck playing I like Harrah?s, Circus Circus or the El Dorado, Peppermill has an excellent sports book but the casino itself is a little busy for my tastes (bunch of neon lights that mess with my eyes) it?s about a $20 cab ride from the main strip in Reno never been to Atlantis but my mom liked it and she is not a gambler.

Thank you BB. I just saw it yesterday and was not happy my name came up like always.
You will have a nice time in Reno, lot better then vegas for things to do besides gamble, I myself think you and family will enjoy it, lake is nice everything is clean and lot of out door things to do with out being in 11o heat.
Enjoy your time you will like it no matter what some have said or least I hope you will.
It is very peaceful ,clean and not like a major city. Mountains and places around it are easy to get to and they treat you very well IMO.
