Stay anywhere you want on the strip in aug, trust me you will be comped with very little play and LA will be nothing like vegas in aug no-where but death vallay and some places in az are like vegas in aug it will be over 110 everyday and bjfi it is going to be 110 and up most of next week might get a break on wen and thur 106-108 but those are at the airport temps, strip and henderson add 5-8 more degrees. Make sure your shoes don't melt.

I will take fl and the humidty anytime since i was there for 18 years on the beach everywhere i lwas in fl and as long as i had the ocean breeze it is fine for me. Just don't shower and go outside right after in fl or you will never dry off.

Like mama said I said dry heat my ass once you hit 110 anything after that each degree feels like 10 more degrees, wait and see if you catch one of those 115 to 118 days you will see what i mean and get lot of wind in aug with those nice temps so you will see what a blast furance feels like. But like I said all and i mean all resprts even they very 3 top of the line resorts will be giving out comps with ease just to get people out here. would not stay at excalaiber would go for mgm, paris, mandalay, aladdin, ceasears ect they will all be throwing comps like beads on fat tues.

I would not stay at Excalibur again if they paid me. Too many kids, rooms are beat to hell, basically just a slightly newer version of Circus Circus.

Why don't you look into Harrah's. You can take a shuttle to RIO, it is in the middle of the strip, and the tram is on that side if the street. Caesars, Mirage, and Treasure Island are just across the street. You can shuttle from the Forum Shops at Caesars to the Hard Rock. The shuttle also stops at the mall and the Stardust if you want to go to the other end of the Strip. Shuttles may not be as convenient, but if you figure out the schedules, it can save you a great deal of cab fares.

To prepare for the heat, take a hair dryer turn it on high and hold it 2 inches from your face. It is not alot of fun, but i prefer it to a 90 degree day in the Midwest.

On the bright side, you will be in Vegas :thumb: .

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Orleans has nice free A/C shuttle to Strip (at Barbary Coast across from Caesars) every 20 mins. Harrah's shuttle is longer and you hike to bowels of rear garage and wait in heat and line there long time for it.

Excalibur has free tram every 12 mins to Mandalay Bay and Luxor, and you wait in A/C room for it.

Forgot about that Boilermaker. That ALONE adds what feels like 10+ more degrees!!!!

I remember walking out of the MGM and the temp on one of the marquis said it was 118. by the time my eyes scanned the 8, sweat was pouring off my forehead at a very large rate! I had a hangover and no sleep. Dry heat my ASS!!!!!

You are better off going into a large sauna and running non-stop for 1 hour. Same thing!!! :D
