Can someone help out here? I am trying to find stats to show if Comerica is easier to hit home runs for Righties of Lefties.....I have heard that it might be easier for Lefties, but not sure. I think this is crucial info if I am to handicap this at all......

If righties are at a distinct disadvantage, I am willing to get rid of a few guys......

Looks like Comerica favors lefty power hitters.

Dimensions:
Left field: 345 feet
left-center: 395 feet , 370 feet
center field: 420 feet
right-center: 365 feet
right field: 330 feet

Fences: 8 feet, except in right-center field, where the fence is 11 feet tall.

From the games I've seen there, it seems like the ball carries a lot better to right and right center, plus the dimensions are shorter.

Right now I'd have to go with a lefty, but would also like to see some actual numbers if someone can find them.

Powerless at home, Pudge gets derby chance
BY JOHN LOWE, FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER
July 6, 2005

CLEVELAND -- Ivan Rodriguez might hit more home runs at Comerica Park on Monday night than in his 1 1/2 seasons with the Tigers.

Rodriguez will participate in the Home Run Derby on the eve of Tuesday night's All-Star Game.

Rodriguez has five home runs this season. "I'm not a power hitter," he said, "but I'm a Puerto Rican."

In the new format for the derby, each of the eight participants will represent his native land.

The participants haven't been formally announced, but Rodriguez talked with reporters Tuesday about how he'll participate in the contest.

Rodriguez has hit 10 homers at Comerica as a Tiger. He smiled at the irony that he'll compete in a home-run contest in a park where, as he has noted more than once, he has lost homers because of the big dimensions in the alleys and centerfield.

"Just try to hit the ball to leftfield," Rodriguez said.

In the first round, each hitter gets to hit as many homers as he can on batting-practice-speed pitches before making 10 "outs." An "out" is any swing that doesn't produce a homer. The semifinals and finals are the same format.

Baltimore's Miguel Tejada won last season's derby, but won't defend his title.

Here are HR's per at bat over the last year and a half.....
I-Rod 33 at bats per HR
Abreu 18.69 at bats per HR
Choi 17.75 per HR
Lee 17.55 per HR
Bay 17.59 per HR
Jones 16.01 per HR
Teixeira 14.23 per HR
Ortiz 14.67 per HR

I think it is anyones game but Ivan's

Give the edge to the lefties.....and although it is going to be tough to beat ortiz and Tex.....I think the smart money is with Choi and Abreu.

I see lots of people laughing about Choi's chances.....but throw him some fastballs in batting practice and he is a masher!
