coot, that is a different "Way" to look at it. rough here as i know many good people that are immigrant illegal or not- that work their asses off to rear their families. that being said, their are just as many that go to selling drugs. there are several that start gangs as well. i'm sorry, but i cannot side with the illegals and i wish they were sent packing. these folks that do not wear the condoms give birth to kids that are immediate burdens to the system. their dads - running around with no insurance and no driver's license to boot. (you can forget the car insurance as well). we have an enormous and growing population here in memphis. it is getting worse. i know of several instances that paint a horrid picture and i do not have the time to get into it. i remeber when "baby boy" was just a dish washer at the restaurant i bartended..... now he is local in the constant flow of drugs in the memphis retaurant industry. there are as many baby boys as their good honest workers.jmo :sadwave:

Everyday, they walk through the line FREE when our kids, kids of HARD working families pay for their lunches themselves and not have it paid for by the GOVT which WE pay in to. Somebody tell me WHY this is right. WHY? Why not use our money to fix the govt that is eroding, fix the social security deficit that we work so hard for each and everyday. basically we do what rich people tell us to do. rich people tell the govt to let the illegals in because they will work for peanuts and help their profits. they don't care that the middle yet again pays the price. they know that the middle will blame the illegals, not their own leadership. fact is the work is there. maybe if minimum wage was higher then enough americans would be interested in the work.
i'm sure the paid off politicians are the ones setting a standard of free services to keep the flow coming in. it's ridiculous to blame the actual immigrant though. if i was them i'd be doing exactly the same thing. despite what people may claim, my guess is 90% of this board would also be doing the same thing.

Most all US citizens descend from have nots who came to this country and either worked their asses off or went on the "dole" Many were

There were street gangs, lawless drunks, corrupt poloticians, bootleggers, and many who never used condoms......They taxed the system and they were Irish,Italian,Polish,Chinese etc. Teachers may have even spent some extra time with a few of them. When there were no jobs...alcohol and gambling became popular industries with the poor.......oh yes ...drugs as well. Children were used and abused on the streets and in sweatshops.....Eventually most groups assimilated but had to deal with racist elements. Today.....Life is better here than in most parts of the world so people still take the chance to make their lives better here. OH.....Unions have lost their power(to their workers......who needs ya...."global economy....cheap labor in China Indonesia,India etc.). Good Jobs with Insurance benefits are being shipped overseas every day saving the big $ for the multi- million dollar salaries of the most powerful.(and thats not even where they make most of their $). Middle Class in this country is shrinking.and we will continue to have trouble assimilating the poor from elsewhere...including Mexico,Guatemala,Latin America etc.
Most are just trying to create a better situation for their families as did your ancestors and I don't give a rats ass what you laugh at! YES we need border control and much greater immigration effeciencies. American culture is changing before your eyes. Question is...Who is responsible??
Oh.......I spent 8 hours in the emergency room last week and what I saw were NOT 'beaners" Most were what I would characterize as poor or working poor who most likely use the ER for their primary medical care.

I doubt anyone would begrudge the immigrant who is here legally. They have, and will continue to be, valuable assests to our democracy. We have quota's and balances in place to accept these people and assimilate them into OUR society. However, Coot made valid points made in this thread about the drain of funds to a disproportionate share of immigrants. Those who are here illegally, seem to want nothing more that to get their hands on some cash and send it back home. They aren't interested in assimilating. They fail to learn the language, don't obey our laws, and populate with reckless abandon, all of which cost US money.
I don't have any compassion for socialist thinking or illegals who are "leeching" from our society.
