he hits a deep drive to center in the first inning and trys to pose at the plate instead of running to first. well the balls is off the fence and bernie williams holds him to a single. years ago managers would bench players that wouldn't run to first but now these thugs want to look good and pose after they hit the ball.

while i agree in principle with what youre saying, what has soriano done to be labeled a "thug"? it seems that has become a ubiquitous put down for any professional athlete on message boards. i dont see him beating any broads or causing any trouble in the clubhouse. unfortunately, rare is the guy who smacks the ball and then puts his head down and goes into dead sprint. no doubt he shouldnt be standing at home plate, but i dont see anything thuggish about it
