Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Graeme McDowell to win 28/1 e.w. @ SkyBet, BetInternet, UKBetting, Totalbet and Boyle Sports
McDowell's form has been patchy over the last four months, but he followed a solid top-15 finish at the K Club with an 11th place finish last week - he had missed the cut in his previous Open Championship - which included hitting every green in regulation in the last round. It was a good way to end the event and bring some momentum into this week and having finished 5th on this course in 2003 and 3rd in his last start in Germany, he should be confident of challenging for the title this week.

Trevor Immelman to win 33/1 e.w. available generally
Saw enough of Immelman in the first two rounds when grouped with Phil Mickelson and Ian Poulter to suggest that he is very near to his best form. His previous best in the event had been 42nd, so his 15th place finish last week is a fine achievement even if he had been 3rd at the cut. It was his third top-15 finish in three weeks on this Tour and having opened with a 69 to be in the top-15 after the 1st round on his debut on this course two years ago, he should continue the trend this week.

Nick Dougherty to win 40/1 e.w. available generally
Dougherty is another stringing together a run of top-15 finishes. His 5th place finish in the Scottish Open was his fourth consecutive top-15 finish on the European Tour and he can also count making the cut in the U.S. Open in the middle of that run and a top-3 finish in the Irish Open beforehand. When he made his debut on this course in 2003, he finished 44th, but he would only better that finish once in twelve European Tour starts between April and July that year. Now he is realising his potential and eager to compete after missing out on qualification for last week, he should once again show why he is one of Europe's best prospects.

Strange! Have just backed all 3 at same odds at 0.5pt ew. First time ever agreed on all picks.

Will also play Greg Owen at 60/1 on GG and hope he brings his putter.

Few others caught the eye, any thoughts -

David Lynn - consistent enough until i backed him! top 20 in 4 of last 5 starts.
Anthony Wall - 18th and 25th in last couple of starts. Finished Top 20 here in 03. Toying with a top 10 play.
Fasth - 4th here in 03. Looking a bit more like his old self of late.

Tournament Matchup

Bernhard Langer -125 over Greg Owen @ 5 dimes
--Since they haven't played this course in a few years, I am finding it tougher to find players I like. But Langer has a fine record over this course and played well last week at St. Andrews. Owen has struggled here in the past, but I think his game is much better now. Still worth taking a shot.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
OUTRIGHTS:

Ian Poulter(28/1) e.w. @ GolfingGods
- - I think Poulter is on the verge of a dominating performance, and I see a course and scheduling well-suited to just that. I played it larger than normal.

Paul Lawrie(150/1) e.w. @ 5dimes
- - It seems I've tracked him well through the latest phase of the season, and I'm going forward with substantial expectations that less pressing will very soon kindle that elusive state of just letting things happen and produce some notable returns on a season of well-directed efforts.

Greg Owen(50/1) e.w. @ GolfingGods
- - "What's he doing here," is the question I had. I remembered the answer and said, "That's a play."

Graeme McDowell(25/1) e.w. @ GolfingGods
- - I'm on board with the thinking that likes this spot for rising talents like McDowell, Dougherty and Immelman . . . I am siding with a posted play on some streakiness over patchiness from McDowell in his pursuit of a win, but I feel poised to make a mistake by siding with the short knocker among those choices.

Scott Drummond(125/1) e.w. @ Bet365
- - I am decidedly unimpressed with David John @ bettingzone.co.uk when it comes to his knack for picking longshots, but I'm arm in arm with him on what he sees here.

Steve Webster(50/1) e.w. @ Bet365
- - In the form of his life on a course that suits.

FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -4.50pts

McDowell 27th
Immelman mc
Dougherty 12th

Had been quite optimistic with one round to play. Dougherty has started the final round in the top-5 four times on this Tour, winning once and finishing in the top-3 every time. He never looked like doing it this time.

European Tour ytd: 10-40; -4.05pts
