I tried to get this organized for the "team" this summer but the interest dwindled as the time drew near. People are usually committed early on their vacation slots and many use this time to enjoy a relaxing getaway with their family. However if you do have any free time and would like to possibly have a MadJack outing during the summer let me know. I'll try again to get some open dates for this fishing resort. Doesn't have to be strictly fishing either. I'm sure there could possiblly be some drinking and card playing going on as well. :mj14:

The dates I had set aside this summer were very successful for walleye fishing. I'm looking forward to the same results on my return trip, Aug 6-20. If the walleyes in the pictures get you drooling (and I do prepare the BEST fried fish in North America :padlock: ......and don't let the guy in the photos scare you off....He's just ugly, but he's nice :mj07) maybe we can generate some interest for a future party :weed:

Thanks kneifl, saint, mama, SixFive and Terryray for your help.

Those are some big ones. Do you ever bread them and stick them in the deep fat fryer? I've tried them once like that and they are tasty as can be!! Goes well with a few beers!!

Mucho Thanks kneifl. I'm going to e-mail you again to see if I can get you to share how you control the size of the pictures. When I send them out they're a little bit bigger on my screen, but the one that SixFive pulled up in the other thread was huge. Kinda distracting to try to get the grasp of the whole thing, plus I think it increased the width of the whole thread. (Were the ones I sent you that big to begin with?) Then the first ones you posted were a little smaller and then BINGO. I'd really like to add that technique to my computer know how.

All those fish except the one my son is holding back at the cabin were released after the picture. They were all in the 22"-27" size. We try to bring back 16 and 17 inchers and maybe an occasional 22 incher for supper. (All fish within the 18-21" slot MUST be released. These are the most fertile fish needed to reproduce and keep this lake the factory it is). I deep fry them in my own batter (sorta like a crispy creme donut...not that sweet of course but there's that distinct flavor that has your taste buds sing for more when it's in your mouth)and the moist pure white meat flakes off the fork. Doesn't get any better than that when you wash them down with a few brews :mj14: You'll just have to take my word for it, OR......join in on the fun.

I think it would be GREAT to have an outing up there with the MadJack crew. I'll be posting threads throughout to see what the interest level is. I'm heading back up Friday for two more weeks (I have to take three weeks off between trips just to ice my arms down from reeling in all those lunkers :mj07: ) I have some film on my other camera with some more nice fish, including some nice small mouth bass, and I hope to be taking many more. Talk to you when I get back. Thanks again for all your help kneifl :)

Trollin,
Is the kid that is cut, your son :scared I aint messing with him, LOL :mj07:
Like I said back in January, your guy was full that week at the fishing show...........so we booked another trip. Definetly look for us next year

Any pictures of Northerns or Muskies, or dont you fish for those? How many walleyes per day/ guy were you catching on this trip.

Franky

The kid in the photo is me!!! The old fart is my dad :mj07:

Yes, that's one of my sons. Spends quite a few hours in the gym and has competed in "natural" contests. When in training he used to put cans of tuna in the blender and mix them with crystal lite and drink them :mj02: Now that he's the daddy of my two beautiful grandaughters he devotes more time to them than the health club. Still a great specimen though :yup

Again, the majority of my time is spent on the walleyes. No musky (although rarely someone will catch one) but many 40+ northerns caught (check some of the other threads so I don't get repetitious) There's a great musky/northern/smallmouth lake 6 miles up the road (check original trip thread from past winter)

The success of the day on the number of fish caught depends on where I would take people. If you want just numbers I can take you down to where the English River comes in and you can catch as many as you want. Don't even need live bait, just a tiny jig with a curly tail on it. Of course they're all small (10-12 inches with a rare one above 16") Three of us caught over a 200 total doing this one year. It's not for me, but it was a great place to take the boys when they were younger. Now I spend most of my time searching for my "goal trophy" of a 30 incher. A few snapshots of that and a quick release is what keeps me going back ;) I think I could achieve that goal if I went up there around opening day but it's a little tougher during July and August. It's not like Erie where you go out on a charter, sit back and eat & drink and wait for your turn to pull in a monster. It's work but to me alot more fun. The scenery and wildlife are another bonus. The weather of course will affect your daily catch but I can say honestly that "my" boat has averaged @30 walleyes/day (4 trips[ ea/1 week] per year for the last 6 years), sometimes on my own and other times with a partner. These fish again are quality fish, not the little bait snatchers. I have never experienced a day where we didn't bring back our supper. Keep in mind that this resort is a drive to, not a fly in. I've had an individual high one day count of 78 and my brother and I caught 77 combined last August. (Two day later we experienced a 2 hour stretch in the morning of zero. That mornig we could hardly get to our spot because of the "high seas" and a drop in the temperature to the low 40's. We did go out later toward the evening and caught our supper, but only after spending the rest of the day drying out and warming up!!) I might add that I seldom fish for more than 6 hours/day (although my 78 count was a 10 hour day). I've had 60+ days with both my sons individually on separate days. We usually go out now @6:00 in the morning and are back by noon. Leaves plenty of time for a few cold ones and some cards :mj14:

Now that should get a fisherman drooling :grins:
