heart says indians.
head says yankees.

think the final wild care standing will end up:

new york
cleveland
minnesota
oakland

just dont think the indians have enough consistent hitting to pull it off. theyve got one of the best 1-5 pitching staffs in baseball, but i just dont trust their offense night in and night out. its a shame, because in the 90s, the indians had all the offensive firepower in the world, but didnt have the pitching to get over the hump. now, its the complete opposite.

the yankees certainly dont have a great pitching staff, but their lineup can outslug their mistakes and pitching woes. will that work in october? probably not. but they should at least be able to slug their way to a berth in the postseason.

if the indians got into the postseason, theyd be very dangerous with their pitching. but im not sure they can hold off new york.

oakland, to me, is doing it with mirrors. and i think they expended so much energy to fight back from 15 or 20 games below .500 that i think theyre a fatigued team right now. and even though street has been lights out, i still wonder how he's going to hold up down the stretch.

we'll see. i still think its new york's to lose. way too much offense to fall short of the playoffs.

The TRIBE....it's as simple as that. PERIOD.

True, I'm a fan, but following this team every single day I truely believe they're going to pull away in this wild card race. Great starting pitching and a pretty much a lights out bullpen although Wickman scares me a bit and a group of players that really define "team".

As far as hitting goes, I definitely think they have enough. A couple of their young players such as Sizemore and Peralta are showing just how talented they really are and after the slow start, Victor Martinez just continures to tear up the 2nd half batting well over .400 since the break. Did I mention Travis Hafner...simply an animal who has tremendous power but also does the little things when they need done....a true pro.

The BEST thing about this Indians team is the fact that they all believe they can win every night and they are a true "TEAM". A team in which no one puts themselves above the rest. Seems like they have a different hero every night. They all get along and sometimes that can take you a long way.

Might sound like big "homer" stuff, but I don't think most people realize how good this team is. Still flying under the radar in terms of the media talking very much about them, but I absolutely love their chances.

1- I Say no to the Twins, they have trouble scoring runs and they lack pop.No Tori Hunter down the stretch will hurt them.

2-For the Athletics, yes they have the pitching, but what a brutal schedule they have. There remaining 38 games 22 on the road and 16 home. This includes two 10 game road trips.7 against the angels.4 boston and 3 against the yankees. The road will kill them.

3-The Yankees, well more then anything this is wishful thinking because i hate them.i say they fall short, problems with the pitching staff and pullpen will keep them outside looking in.Plus when your #1 pitcher gives up 4 home runs in 1 inning(Randy Johnson) you got problems.

4-The american league wild card winner is the Tribe, they are tied at the moment and hot.The key is the road they are 37-25 on the road that will get you to the playoffs.13 games remaining against K.C.and T.B. helps also.Best bullpen in baseball 2.82 era and a 3.78 era overall.
Some people say they are too young,i dont buy that.C.C.,Lee,and Millwood can get it done down the stretch.

The Tribe. Have excellent pitching, especially in the 'pen. Cliff Lee and Millwood are having great years, rest of rotation is decent. Top and middle of the lineup is very good, but pitching will be key. Played them to win the AL Pennant at 28-1 last week when they were 3.5 out of wildcard, think they have a good shot to go all the way in the playoffs.

I say Twins as my longshot special. Sticks are back and you can't find a better staff. They outpitched Oakland at Oakland last time out there and this is the time of the year where Santana and Radke come alive. Silva has been good all year and all the sudden Loshe is throwing great ball when threatened with trades or demotion. Mays is the real question mark. Who knows with that guy.

They are finally hitting and Hunter wants to come back in the last week of the year if possible. I really like the way they are playing. They got the Indians for 6 games-those will be huge!

The White Sox better watch out if the Twins can sweep them this weekend cause they may lose the Central!!! Indians and Twins are bearing down and it is getting very interesting!
