heart says indians.
head says yankees.
think the final wild care standing will end up:
new york
cleveland
minnesota
oakland
just dont think the indians have enough consistent hitting to pull it off. theyve got one of the best 1-5 pitching staffs in baseball, but i just dont trust their offense night in and night out. its a shame, because in the 90s, the indians had all the offensive firepower in the world, but didnt have the pitching to get over the hump. now, its the complete opposite.
the yankees certainly dont have a great pitching staff, but their lineup can outslug their mistakes and pitching woes. will that work in october? probably not. but they should at least be able to slug their way to a berth in the postseason.
if the indians got into the postseason, theyd be very dangerous with their pitching. but im not sure they can hold off new york.
oakland, to me, is doing it with mirrors. and i think they expended so much energy to fight back from 15 or 20 games below .500 that i think theyre a fatigued team right now. and even though street has been lights out, i still wonder how he's going to hold up down the stretch.
we'll see. i still think its new york's to lose. way too much offense to fall short of the playoffs.
