Only 3 more days of pre season

1 game tonight
11 thursday
5 friday

Then we get ready for the season opener...

Thursday Sept.8...

The RRRAAAIDERS vs the World Champs in Foxboro

Are you ready for some Football!!!!!! :mj14:

Coaches trends for this game...

Detroit?s Steve Mariucci has notoriously been lax during the preseason. During his time in San Francisco, ?Mooch? was 11-17 both SU & ATS in exhibition games. The past two seasons in Detroit, he has led the Lions to a 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS record.

Interestingly enough, he is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS at home during this span, but 0-4 both SU and ATS on the road. Was Mariucci trying to ingratiate himself with Detroit fans in his first two years at the helm?

Mike Martz is 7-14 SU and 8-13 ATS in his preseason career, including 2-8 SU and 3-7 ATS away from the Ed Jones Dome.

Looks like both coaches would rather skip the pre season.

Mooch does have an edge at home.

I look at 1 interesting note...

And that is Joey Harrington is on the bubble,
yes he will be the starter opening day,but he better watch his back because Jeff Garcia is waiting in the wings. And Mooch will not hesitate to give Joey the hook.Mooch and Garcia go back to the 49er days.
I look for both QB`S to make the best of there time in this game tonight.
And they have the weapons to do so with..

The serious triple threat at WR in Charles Rodgers, rookie Mike Williams, and Roy Williams. These three amigo's are all 1st rounders with speed, size and talent like none other in this division, and maybe all of football.Look for these guys to be able to get free from the soft ram secondary that only picked off 6 passes last season.

*ALSO A RAM SECONDARY NOTE*

The way the secondary looks, the Rams will be giving up a lot of big plays this season. Starting corner Jerametrius Butler is lost for the season, which forces Dejaun Groce in opposite Travis Fisher. That's not a great combination. Safety Adam Archuleta has moved back to strong safety, with Michael Hawthorne, a converted corner, in at free safety. Look for a lot of big plays against this unit.

Very strange is the lions have scored only 16 points so far and no touch down passes for Harrington.

Mean while the Rams have scored only 37.

44 is about what the number should be tonight.

Bulger is capable of big numbers and he sure does have the receivers to do so. In Holt,Bruce & 3rd down receiver Kevin Curtis.

I do like the over tonight,i believe both teams get there running games going and that will open up the passing game.

Steven Jackson & Kevin Jones can make things happen.

Big night in Detroit, fans should be nuts.

The determining factor for me taking the over is SPEED...Both teams are very quick...and i love the combination of speed and turf .

Also the RAMS PUNTERS stink, should give the Lions good field position.

*Reggie Hodges vs. Bryan Barker for punting job - Neither stood out against the Chargers. Hodges averaged 38.7 yards on three punts with a 32.3-yard net, while Barker averaged 39.0 with a 25.0 net*

I believe lions punt returner Eddie Drummond led the league last season and also had a few TDS.

As you can see i am looking for points anyway i can. :)

Let`s hope we get a high scoring exciting game on monday night in motown.

Soul,

Every week you post great information and genuinely seem to want to help others on the forum. This is my fourth year at jacks, and let this old schooler tell you that its always nice to see a new guy who really tries to contribute. I wish you nothing but the best of luck this season.

keep up the great work!

good info soul, im also on the over, lions at home, joey needs a touchdown pass, and jeff as a backup against the "lousy" rams defense, plus the rams offense shouldnt have a problem since they are playin on turf, but they are not good on the road. but i see this game bein a lot of fun and profitable.

Get there Soultrain! ...I heard the Lions picked up Timmy Chang. Maybe they should throw him in there - he'll get a score for someone.

Not reaching the total the way we envisioned, but all that matters is that it gets done.

Let's see, Lions can't stop the run and can't score on offense. ...That doesn't sound like a playoff team to me.

hell of a call on the over, it was close, but we got it. detroit sucks, couldnt score with the wide recieves, k. jones, and the addition of pollard, harrington and garcia gots to ride the pine and give timmy chang a shot. anyways, good pick lookin for some more winnings this season!!!
