I still have no word form him and am obviously worried. I am gonna go ahead and take over the NCAA pickem contest until I hear from him just to be fair to all those who signed up and paid.

If you signed up and need any information please ask here of go the the contest page and post a question in that forum box (probably better) and I will do what I can to help.

Unfortunatly I have no way of verifying payments so I will take your word for it it you tell me you paid, if you end up winning and didn't pay you only screw yourself.

I didn't start this thing, so bear with me and hopefully we will have no problems.

The deadline I see posted is 5 minutes befoe the first game, they are all Saturday games so you still have time to handicap for this week.

PF, how about the money, I held onto my check for obvious reasons with this thing coming, can we send it to you or someone else, or just hold it until things are more under control??? thanks, JP

At this point I would say just hang onto it until we make sure the postal system is up and running. If you want to send it electronically through Paypal I will take that and send it to him, other wise just wait it out.

Thanks and I hope that helps.

Mostly I am concerned that everyone has access and knows what to do.

pf...... i wasn't quite as smart as jp was ..... i mailed my check last friday morning, but seriously doubt it has been or will be received..... my guess is that sunday to monday it was sitting in a post office distribution center in NO (so guess there is a chance it will still be returned to me) ... as seen in anouther thread, the Houma post office was destroyed, so if it made it there by that point, hard telling. can't see putting a $15 stop payment on a $20 check...... i'll give it a week or so to hear if it came through and then resend.... you gonna post a new addy to send it to at yahoo?

Mama, I maybe gullible, but I don't think this crowd is gonna screw us out of $20, especially you. Let's just wait it out and see if it shows up, Schouest isn't gonna cash two checks from you, I'll give you your money back if he does.

If/when (crosses fingers) we hear from Schouest and he gets everything striaghtened out I am sure you an resolve weather the check cleared your bank/got returned/dissapeared.

I am honestly not so much worried about the payments right now as I am getting this thing rolling so it's one less thing he has to worry about.

Can you tell me what thread you saw that the Houma post office was flooded?

Thanks

I really don't give two shits about the $20 I sent Chris or the contest in general. My only concern is for the safety of Chris and his family.

Hope he is OK.

and oops, guess it wasn't the Houma post office.... it was Cutoff, but must have misread it after it said *where Shouest is from*

and like spang said, the $20 isn't a big deal at all.... i wouldn't care if he cashed both checks and kept the extra if he had destruction or passed it on to those in the area that did.... what i can't see doing is sending out a 2nd check if it isn't gonna make it there.

i do remember schouest posting that he was gonna get the hell outta dodge, but don't remember if he said where he was evacuating to.

Everyting I can find on-line says Houma faired pretty well and actually has power back on for the most part but the phone lines have been pretty well demolished though. I don't think he has cable internet so he'll be waiting for a phone line and that looks like it may take a while.

Thats the most positive news I have found yet and while I cerainly don't know for sure it's at least something positive.

I appreciate that Spang. Chris is a good guy and I am sure he will appreciate the well wishes.

In the grand scheme of things the contest isn't imporant, your right on about that, but I'm gonna get it rolling along so when he reappears it's less for him to worry about.

Thanks Pen for stepping up. I believe everyone's interest are more for Schouest family and others from that area. I too signed up Friday and mailed out a check Saturday morning. I am sure it will never get to its destination but will surely get another out when things are resolved.

One of my best friends that i am getting ready to head out to the Titans game with works for the Post office here in Nashville. He was telling me last night that they have a dilemma here on what to do with the mail. They are not sending ANYTHING in that direction now, it piling up by the thousands of pounds and there is no solution as of now on what to do with it.

Prayers and best wishes to all down there and relief that come be a long way in coming.

I did have one question: it says something about 17 points. I see you make 5 picks each week against the spread plus a couple of tie breakers. What is the breakdown on points accumulated?

Thanks again for jumping in!

I'm gonna have to check on that and see what it's about.

I posted another thread that I just talked to Chris on the phone and all is well with them!

Dunclock, you don't just pick 5 games, you pick EVERY game listed which is all games where the top 25 are playing. It will vary each week. This week there is 17 games, they don't have the ASU or Miami game because they don't fall on saturday. Eventually I think they will put a thurs or fri game on there.

Some weeks will have more and some have less.

Anyway, the most pts you can get will be 17, one point for each one you get right.

As far as the tie breaker, I'm not sure how it works, because the overall scoring goes by your totals throughout the season. I couldn't figure out how the tiebreaker worked last year when doing this, except on a few weeks there would be a tie for first place that week and it would show who the winner is because of the tie breaker, so maybe its for people that actually do weekly prizes too or something, I don't know.

Thanks for the explanation Timmy. Damn, now I have to look at every game! And I thought my five "hot ones" would carry me thru :mj07:

Don't know where I came up with that scenerio, but I better get busy looking at more games.

Thanks and gl 2 all

i don't like the fact you have to pick the OTB games ;)

something about a grade of *incomplete* bugs me tho, so i went ahead and filled 'em in.

I noticed by clicking on other people's names in the contest, their picks read "incomplete" so I hope people don't think you're only picking 5 games too. Maybe they just haven't made their picks yet.

I've seen different people forget to make their picks on this last year when I did it, so I always make my picks on monday and then go back and change them as the week goes on.

Oh, thats another thing. I guess this should be posted on the board there as well. When there's no line, like the Cal / Sac. St. game, you DO have to pick a side even though there is no line. You don't have to, but if you don't pick Cal, you won't get the point that everyone else does. Unless of course you think Sac. St will win this one SU.
