1-0 nice job by the Ducks getting it done in Houston last night.
I am not a big college guy when it comes to the
pigskin or hoops,i prefer the NFL & NBA for the most part, but i will give it another shot here see if i can keep the streak going.
Let`s give Kansas a shot on Saturday....
Kansas showed they could play with anyone during their season last year. Although they finished the year 4-7,Kansas had fourth quarter leads against Northwestern and Texas Tech, and led Texas by 10 points with just over 4:00 remaining. The Jayhawks return 6 on offense and 9 on defense. It looks like QB Adam Barmann will run the offense this season he started in the first 8 games last year, throwing for 1,427 yards and 12 TD's before getting a season ending shoulder injury. The offesnive line should be stellar, as they return 4 of 5, only inserting Sophmore C Todd Haselhorst (6'4, 300lbs) into the veteran group. The backfield took a hit as RB John Randle was kicked off the team, but Kansas has great talent here such as projected starter Sr. Clark Green (5'11, 210lbs; 3.6 YPC, 1 TD) who can run over defenders as he pushes for yards after contact. They will have a young but talented group of receivers, returning only Mark Simmons with any significant experience. Defense should be just as productive this year as they have a solid defensive line. The Jayhawks return all 3 LB's on defense, 1st Team all conference Sr. Nick Reid (6'4, 235lbs) who had 109 tackles last year, Sr. Kevin Kane (6'1, 225 lbs), and Sr. Banks Floodman (6'3, 235lbs). The secondary returns almost intact, led by possibly the best player on the field, preseason all-American and all-conference Jr. Charles Gordon (6'0, 190lbs) who let the nation with 7 INT's last year. This defense should shut down Florida Atlantic all together.
Florida Atlantic jumped to D-1 football last year, with 19 starters and boasted an impressive 9-3 record. However, digging deeper, one can notice that 5 of their wins last year were against D-AA teams. Also, they lost pretty much their entire team as they return just 8 starters with almost no experience, 4 on offense and 4 on defense. This year, Florida Atlantic probably will not win too many games They need to replace their QB, RB, both WR's, and 3 of 5 on the line, although they return TE Dantson Dareus. On defense they must replace 3 of the front 4, the WLB, SLB, and both safeties. On a positive note, MLB Shomari Earls (6'4, 250lbs) will anchor the inexperienced front 7 and they return both corners Willie Hughley (5'11, 170lbs) and Lawrence Gordon (5'11, 175lbs) and the punter. This will be a young, young team. West Virginia transfer Danny Embick (6'1, 210lbs) is expected to take over as QB for the Owls, but has little experience and will be handing off to B.J. Manley who only has 13 career carries. Returning FB Aaron Sanchez (5'10, 220lbs) will probably be assigned blocking duties. The offensive line will have 3 sophmores and 2 juniors. This offense will not have much success moving the ball against Big 12 foe Kansas's veteran defense. Punter Mike Brown will be getting a lot of work as the Owls probably won't put any points on the board at all. This game will be over before it begins.
