A rivalry between 2 teams in the Bluegrass state. With Louisville moving to the Big East and UK showing no signs of ever improving, this very well could be 1 of the last matchups between these rivals for a while since Louisville may want to schedule tougher non conference opponents in the future. Departed is beloved Stefan Lefors which would lead many to believe that the Louisville offense won't be as explosive, but that is not the case. Backup Brian Brohm is more than capable and many think is a better all around QB than Lefors was. More importantly, Brohm has experience at the D-1 level since coach Petrino was able to get Brohm into 11 of Lousiville's games last year since many ended up being blowouts. Brohm has excellent mobility and a great arm. Not many will miss Lefors once this kid is done. Kentucky on the other hand is a lost cause. They are forced to start a sophomore at QB in Andre Woodson and reports on this kid are that he doesnt like to study film or the playbook. Not good news for a team that scored 10 points or less 5 times last year and 17 or less 9 times last year. On the defensive side of the ball, UK will be switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3. I'm no expert, but employing a new defense in your 1st game of the season against 1 of last season's best offenses probably isn't a formula for any type of success. Louisville loves to run it up and will do so against their arch rival today.
