Not altogether yet, but was relieved of his Katrina duties and sent back to Washington from Baton Rouge. Look for forced resignation or firing soon, IMO.

Some admiral put in charge of Katrina.

Good move.

maybe Mr. Brown would serve better running the Iraq thing? Do they have horses there? Oh ya, he failed with horses also.

Wow, to be publicly shamed and "sent home" like that...
just days after Bush calls you "brownie" and says good job. I bet he is going to be in a big ole depression real soon

Any chance someone could leave some sharp objects, or maybe an unregistered pistol and ammo laying around this guys house so he can just for once try and do something right and prevent a major catastrophe (his breakdown) before he f*cks up more lives?

These guys never stop. That weasel Chertoff, the secretary of Homeland Security(sic), whose office presides over FEMA , says that Brown was pulled from Katrina relief because he was needed to 'work on future potential disasters.' Yeah, that's it.

Brown had no disaster experience. Still doesn't, really. He was the president of the International Equine Association from 1991-2001 and was appointed in 2001 as the FEMA leader? WTF? I really don't know the answer, but who makes this appointment? I think I heard it wasn't the president, but somebody else. They said a name, but I didn't recognize it.

That said, FEMA ran pretty smoothly down here last year. They were here quickly and for the most part, efficiently.

I think the big difference was in how the Governors reacted. Now, the more cynical among us would make a case that Florida got preferential treatment because Jeb is W's brother. I don't think it was that at all. The difference between his actions and Blancos actions, both pre and post storm, are striking.

But one interesting thing is how many top people (mayors, congressmen, even senators, etc) are now speaking up about how Brown said 'no,' time and time again, both before and after the storm to them personally.

When asked what now, Brown responded:

"I'm going to go walk my dog, hug my wife, have a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and then go back to helping the relief efforts. (paraphrasing a little, but not much)"

Nice.

He's getting everybody ready in case we have another hurricane disaster. I couldn't believe that either...

Don't know a thing about him except what I've heard about the horse stuff. I was expecting the guy to take one for the boss and fall on his sword.

I also believe it was inevitable.

This will make the situation a bit easier for those involved to move on (sorry) and get thru this disaster.

Guy doesn't seem to be handling it well from what Kosar said.

Did you all know that these $2000 debit cards can be used for ANYTHING? Last night my brother arrested a guy for DWI in a stolen car. In his effects were a card as well as a receipt for $100 in charges on that card - from a strip club.

lol exactly

this is one of the worst ideas anyone could ever think of

these people are not exactly the best "money managers" all in all

the red cross and FEMA handing out debit cards....if i didnt expect such incompetence out of either organization i would be outraged

all you can do is laugh and take back that check you were about to write and find some legitimate organization

too bad we have all these "tax cuts for the rich" so that they can't buy stripper credits for the homeless

Brown resigns, per the AP. What a shocker. WTF do they have to lie about the reason he was pulled back to Washington? 'He's coming back to handle other potential disasters.' Whatever.

Good move!! Now how about the resignation of the worthless finger-pointing mayor!! The guy had 2,000 school buses that he could have used to evacuate his people but was too inept to think of it. Or that governor who broke down and was crying on TV. Nice leadership.

If we only could. Mayor, Governor, President. But were not that lucky. One dude I will give lots of credit is Governor of Mississippi. That old boy is on the job helping everyday they say. Has a command post just 3 miles from ground zero and spends half day there everyday.

Yes, Haley Barbour has been great. In sharp contrast to that horrible Governor Blanco in Louisiana. She rarely speaks and when she does she breaks down. When you see her, she's crying or damn near. She's the farthest thing from a leader that I could ever imagine. F*cking inept.
