Michigan - offense slow and plodding, defense questionable, did not deserve to be ranked so high after 2 performances against NIU and ND. Every year this team is ranked top 10 pre-season polls. They will be back there next season. :) Everyone can tout how strong the Big 10 is. :)

Ohio State - LB's great, offense can't get it done, secondary extremely questionable. Red Zone efficiency - pathetic. Not a scary looking team. I would hire the best OC in CFB and OSU might be a NC contender. Their offense is PATHETIC yet so talented. But I am talking about them on "elite" status. Not comparing them to rest of CFB.

Texas - Young is good for 2 picks (or fumbles) a game if he keeps throwing the way he has lately. OSU was not able to really capitalize on them. An opponent with an explosive offense will. OSU scored FG's instead of TD's. Defense secondary is questionable for Texas. What happens if they face a highly sophisticated passing attack?

ND - Secondary is pathetic. Walker is good but he's no Reggie Bush or LenDale White. D Line ok but not great. The highly touted ND OL couldn't get the job done running time off clock at end of 4th. :( Quinn will have to really improve his game if he could only get 2 TD's against Michigan. Irish only had 240 yards total offense against a poor Michigan defense. ND did not deserve their #46 pre-season ranking and I would rank them #3 in the country because they accomplished the most of any team. Lack team speed.

LSU- Might win the SEC but def. couldn't win the Pac 10. Got to give them props for pulling out a win in game they were clearly outplayed. I can't wait for the next poster on MJ's to tout the tough defense played in the SEC and the weak defense played in the Pac 10. :)

*I also learned that anybody touting the Big 10 being #1 conf. was clueless. (media is guilty) Bunch of BS. Big 12 is always touted and fails repeatedly. Horrible football played in Big 12. Nothing special or sophisticated. Big 10 and Big 12 are 4th and 5th best conf. Right now ACC, Pac 10 and SEC are top 3. Well thats my opinion. :)

My top 5

#1 USC
#2 Texas
#3 ND
#4 V-Tech
#5 Ohio St.

I put a lot of weight on what a team has accomplished up to this point. Of the top 5, USC without question has accomplished the least. :) But I think USC is on a completely different level than those 4 teams and deserve their #1 ranking.

Forgot one.

I am convinced more than ever, the SEC cannot defend against a proficient passing attack. This is the big reason why Spurrier won the title half the time when he was with the Gators. The SEC simply has no clue how to stop big time passing teams. LSU tonight couldn't stop the forward pass worth a hoot. Even the last play of the game for ASU the WR was open but ball thrown behind him.

Listen up people. If USC is favored under 24pts against Arkansas, remember what I just wrote above! Arkansas is an SEC team.

Remember what I wrote above if USC faces an SEC or Big 12 team in the BCS NC game.

You will cash in big time! I do it every year.

I think you learned not to make big plays on college football until you see the teams play at least one game.

I think you learned not to middle so much.

I think you learned that the Bulldogs were not the play.

I think you learned SEC football is far superior to Pac 10.

I think you learned.......

what is that reggietv your touting ?

thanks for teaching me things.

What did I learn? That even when USC is not playing every one of your posts has to compare everything that happened to them, or what would have happened if team X was playing USC.

Seriously Scott, this has gone way beyond man crush at this point.

However, in keeping with the theme of the thread, you may actually not be far from wrong about week two, the 2-5 teams didn't look like the could hold a candle to USC.

I really thought Notre Dame was way too hyped up after seeing Pitt lose to Ohio Community college the other night, but obviously they are a very good team.

Not sure what LSU giving up 500+ yards means, but it can't be good.

I honestly have no idea how you put Ohio St in the top 5 after that performance, I mean how many opportunities did they blow to put that game away and fail? This is how a top 5 team plays in your eyes?

Right now I am watching Lee Corso tell everyone how great Young is, so I just learned (or reinforced is more like it) that Corso does not know his ass from a hole in the ground.

Scott, with the exception of the blatant USC overtone to EVERYTHING you post and your inability to take a shot now and then I really like your posts and insight, but I am afraid if USC were to be found guilty of any NCAA violation and banned from TV and post season we would have to put you on 24 hr suicide watch, relax man.

Unbelievable!!

With all LSU has been through with distractions and such, LSU goes to the second best team in the pac 10, comes from behind and wins, and you still don't want to give them credit?

Scott, you do give good solid insights to games, but stuff like this ruins your cred. man. Stick to capping games and don't ever say LSU could not compete in the pac 10. That is just moronic

Scott,

After reviewing your post a second time, I noticed you said, LSU could not win the pac 10. I stand corrected in advance for my previous post saying they could not compete.

I do think USC would beat LSU, but if that game last night would have been played in Baton Rouge, LSU would have won a bit easier. However, let's give them props for coming out there and beating what many believe is the second best team in the pac 10

I learned that the Boise defense is swiss cheese off the smurf turf and something must be wrong with the Zabransky, he just can not hold onto the ball. On the flip side Oregon State's run defense is pathetic at times.

Watched most of the Alabama game thanks to PIP and think their secondary stinks. Up front they swarm the ball and have great linebackers, but can be exploited with the deep ball. Good fade when they play teams with deep threats.

Bad weekend for Ty Willingham. Weis takes his team and turns them into a legit top 10-15 program in the span of two games, and then Tedford embarrasses him with a Juco transfer making his first start. I'm not exaggerating when I say Cal could have hung close to 80 points on the board yesterday, they dropped a few Ints that would have gone back for scores and also a couple deep balls early.

The Buffalo offense might break some sort of record for not scoring the whole season, it's starting to look that bleak. Calling them inept would be a compliment at this point.

Vandy won an SEC road game -- didn't think I'd see the day.

Scott, quick question, who would win -- USC or the 49ers?

i grow up on SC football. i watched OJ (before he was a felon), AD and Rickey Bell. Twp of my sister, my uncle, my dad and even my grandmother graduated from SC. I flew to the Orange Bowl this year and saw them beat the sooners. I am on your side.

Talk my advise, no one cares about thiis stuff, all people want are winners!. I reviewed your post and i believe you had a bad week. I believe you bet a mojority of your money on CFB. So post your picks, make or lose your money and relax. YOU ARE SHOWING YOUR YOUTH! It seems like so many get off on giving you a hard time! Do you really enjoy that? If you do keep doing what you do, otherwise just post your picks and enjoy the games!

JMO, I wish you the best and i hope you make some money this year, cause it is expensive to live in So. Cali!

Not sure why this thread was moved. Last week someone posted this type of thread and it stayed in CFB forum.

Where exactly do I talk USC that isn't appropriate? When I make joking comment to a ND fan saying I want ND undefeated on Oct. 15th? That bothers you? If someone else brings up USC I sure as hell will comment. Just and FYI, ESPN talks about USC ALL THE TIME! Crazy. Maybe because they are #1? So maybe that is why USC comes up so much in this board.

I don't post BS rah rah stuff. I post my opinion and explain it. You have the choice to take it for whats it worth. I don't care if there are a lot of people who hate me. There is no reason too. If people want to take shots at me, go ahead. I don't really care. I don't play the game of personal attacks.

You people need to know these are my opinions. Nothing wrong with stating your opinion especially when it is intelligently written. I don't go saying OSU SUCKS, TEXAS STINKS, ND WEAK, USC GREAT.

Thanks for the compliments I appreciate it but I do not think my posts about USC are off the wall. I think I have been right EVERY SINGLE TIME whenever I made huge wager on USC. Believe me, if I see a great opportunity to bet AGAINST USC, I will post it. I won't bet it but I'll share it.

This thread was about what you learned this week. I posted what "I" learned.

Skipper

Good post and thanks for correcting yourself. I almost bet LSU big against ASU. I thought LSU was better team def. more talented. Their D against a Pac 10 offense worried me. Turns out I was right although I still would have ca$hed. :cursin: LSU can beat USC and ASU @LSU. But I don't think LSU would win the Pac 10 and dare I say they might have easier time winning the SEC? I def. think they have an easier time getting to the SEC championship game vs winning the Pac 10. Winning the SEC + winning the SEC NC game might be on par or harder than winning the Pac 10.

Blackman

Good post, enjoyed seeing what you wrote.

49ers would win because USC does not have a defense to compete. USC def. without question has an offense that would compete. Give USC offense 5 drives on own 20 yard line against 49ters D, I think USC scores 1/5 times.

I learned that Scott is a blowhard.

I learned Scott knows far less about football that most folks on here.

I learned Scott has less objectivity than the average political pundit.

I learned that Scott will use every creative idea in the book to support anything he thinks, usually in defiance of all common sense or reality.

I learned that Scott has never poorly handicapped a game. All of his wins are his skills and every loss is from bullshit, or refs being paid off, etc.

I learned that the definition of "monster weekend" is losing 2 or 3 units.

I learned that I may be a bit better at handicapping Big 12 games than most.

Wait a minute......

I didnt learn any of that. I already knew it.

not much you can do but cheer for the poor kid

played very well in spite of Coach Mack and his band of looneys

I don't not like you, I just don't like all the USC bullshit you post and how everything has to be compared to USC.

I'm sure a lot of others feel the same.

Glad to see you do not dislike me. But I think you are wrong about me bringing up USC constantly. USC is the #1 team in the country so they will be talked about. Others bring them up and I will comment/reply to that. Also if I make a joke to a ND fan saying hope ND is undefeated on OCT. 15th bothers you, it was just a friendly joke. Do I talk about USC a lot? Yes. But not where it is not appropriate. Maybe you can find a couple posts that USC might not have been needed to be mentioned, but don't you see the media talk about USC non stop? It is not like USC is out of the top 25 and I keep bringing them up. They are the benchmark of CFB and currently #1 and favored heavily to go to Rose Bowl. So yes they will be brought up and compared too. I hope you understand.

I have posted only 1 thread about USC in the CFB forum in the last 3 months. THat was my USC to win it all wagers. There have been at least 10 USC threads posted in the last 3 months. 9 of those were NOT started by me.
