Michigan - offense slow and plodding, defense questionable, did not deserve to be ranked so high after 2 performances against NIU and ND. Every year this team is ranked top 10 pre-season polls. They will be back there next season.
Everyone can tout how strong the Big 10 is.
Ohio State - LB's great, offense can't get it done, secondary extremely questionable. Red Zone efficiency - pathetic. Not a scary looking team. I would hire the best OC in CFB and OSU might be a NC contender. Their offense is PATHETIC yet so talented. But I am talking about them on "elite" status. Not comparing them to rest of CFB.
Texas - Young is good for 2 picks (or fumbles) a game if he keeps throwing the way he has lately. OSU was not able to really capitalize on them. An opponent with an explosive offense will. OSU scored FG's instead of TD's. Defense secondary is questionable for Texas. What happens if they face a highly sophisticated passing attack?
ND - Secondary is pathetic. Walker is good but he's no Reggie Bush or LenDale White. D Line ok but not great. The highly touted ND OL couldn't get the job done running time off clock at end of 4th.
Quinn will have to really improve his game if he could only get 2 TD's against Michigan. Irish only had 240 yards total offense against a poor Michigan defense. ND did not deserve their #46 pre-season ranking and I would rank them #3 in the country because they accomplished the most of any team. Lack team speed.
LSU- Might win the SEC but def. couldn't win the Pac 10. Got to give them props for pulling out a win in game they were clearly outplayed. I can't wait for the next poster on MJ's to tout the tough defense played in the SEC and the weak defense played in the Pac 10.
*I also learned that anybody touting the Big 10 being #1 conf. was clueless. (media is guilty) Bunch of BS. Big 12 is always touted and fails repeatedly. Horrible football played in Big 12. Nothing special or sophisticated. Big 10 and Big 12 are 4th and 5th best conf. Right now ACC, Pac 10 and SEC are top 3. Well thats my opinion.
My top 5
#1 USC
#2 Texas
#3 ND
#4 V-Tech
#5 Ohio St.
I put a lot of weight on what a team has accomplished up to this point. Of the top 5, USC without question has accomplished the least.
But I think USC is on a completely different level than those 4 teams and deserve their #1 ranking.
