Let`s try these 5......

Carolina just may be one of the top two teams in the NFC this season. Throughout the preseason they looked real well prepared. In fact the Panthers starters were 3-1 in their 4 sessions against comparable competition and out-scoring opposing starters 41-27. Delhomme looks as sharp as he did in his Super Bowl year, as does this Panthers defense. The Saints are a team in turmoil. They just aren't ready for the field. In the preseason the Saints starters were pushed around. While they do have some punch offensively, it's not near enough to overcome a defense who's starters yielded 62 preseason points - BY FAR the most of any NFL starting unit. Obviously, the Saints are affected and distracted in ways that no other team in the NFL is, and that just couldn't happen to a less prepared team. There is nothing more the New Orleans franchise would like than to bring even the slightest smile to the faces of their fans at this time. Unfortunately, this group can't deliver - not on the road against a very well prepared Carolina team....

Lovie Smith?s Chicago Bears enter this contest without the services of injured starting QB Rex Grossman .Look for Bears replacement pivot rookie, Kyle Orton to have his hands full with what is a very staunch Washington defense and secondary. I also expect the Skins sputtering offense to try to minimize mistakes by depending on RB Clinton Portis to conservatively move the ball downfield today. Bottom line: Both teams will run the ball a great deal in this tilt in what will amount to an old fashioned clock ball sleeper. Skins have gone UNDER in 6 of their last 8 with a total of 35 or less. Bears have gone UNDER 11 of their 16 road games.33 is as low a number that i have seen in the nfl in a long time :)
Let`s go under........

Roethlisberger stepped into a perfect situation last year. His job was simply to NOT make mistakes and just guide that well oiled Steeler machine. Not to take anything away from the kid. He is a great QB with a bright future. Roethlisberger's mediocre games will come this year. Hopefully this week. He has already struggled in the pre season and going back to last years playoffs you can see where his inexperience was exposed. Point being, we will take Mcnair over Roethlisberger any day. We expect the Titans to be much improved over last years version and the Steelers to be a notch below last year, making this +7 very attractive.
Jeff Fisher has gone 8-2 against Bill cowher in their last 10 meetings
Fisher has also won the last 3 meetings
Tennesse has won their last 3 openers-Since 1995, this franchise is the NFL's best team on the road, going 45-35.

*Steelers 4-11-1 opening day*
*0-6-1 opening day*

Buffalo started last season with a 1-5 record while suffering 3 losses by 3 points or fewer, but the Bills rallied to go 8-2 in their final 10 games and were arguably the best team in the league during that span. The keys to the turnaround were twofold - inserting Willis McGahee as the main tailback and the return to the lineup of star safety Lawyer Milloy, who missed the first 5 games due to injury. The Bills? defense was decent those 5 games without Milloy (5.1 yards per play allowed to teams that combined to average 5.2 yppl on offense), but they became the best unit in the league in the 11 games Milloy played, yielding just 4.0 yppl to teams that averaged 5.0 yppl on offense while forcing 3.0 turnovers per game. The Bills? defense returns intact except for run stuffing DT Pat Williams, but replacement Ron Edwards should be solid in his place.Bills QB Losman gets the call this season and he should do an adequate job, look for the Bills to make some noise this season. Houston was medicore team last season, rating at 0.3 yppl worse than average on offense (5.2 yppl against teams that combined to allow 5.5 yppl on defense for the season) and 0.1 yppl worse than average defensively (5.6 yppl allowed to teams that combined to average 5.5 yppl on offense), but Houston will continue to improve on offense with a healthy Domanick Davis (he played hurt in the first half of the season last year, but performed very well in the second half) and a continually improving David Carr at quarterback. I rate the Texans at 0.1 yppl better than average offensively this season while their defense should still be 0.1 yppl worse than average after switching out aging veterans for faster and less experienced players. The Texans have the potential to be good defensively if ex-Raiders? CB Phillip Buchanon plays up to his potential, but there has been no sign of that in the preseason. Houston applies to a negative 12-30 ATS week 1 indicator, the Bills should find a way to cover the 5.5.
Buffalo's Head Coach, Mike Mularkey. His first season last year, he was 11-5 ATS and 7-0 ATS vs teams under .500. Houston was 7-9 SU last year.

What's with this love affair with the Chiefs? Seems the whole world is picking the Chiefs this week. Wasn't it the Jets who were an overtime field goal away from the AFC title game last year? Isn't it the Jets who have been steadily improving each year while the Chiefs have begun to decline? Quite frankly, aren't the Jets simply the better team here (lol)? Perhaps it's KC's great record over the years in home openers? No doubting they have one of the best home field edges in the entire NFL but will that be enough? There are question marks due to injuries on both teams. Jets QB Pennington is coming off rotator cuff surgery. But then Chiefs QB Trent Green has his own problems with a bum leg. If that's not enough, the QB who ran the offense in practice most of the pre season is not even on the team any longer. He was cut! Jets added Ty Law. John Abraham is ready to go. Chiefs running back Priest Holmes has his own problems as he's coming off an injury as well. There's far more question marks on the Chiefs side of the ball than the Jets. This game is a no brainer. We'll take the 10-6 team from a year ago that figured to be improved over the 7-9 team that figures to be more of the same.
Let`s go with the team that plays both sides of the ball opposed to the 1 dimensional chiefs.

Nice job on the write-ups Soultrain .... like your Carolina, Buffalo and Tennessee picks but can't buy off on your Jets play .... reason for that is I will be in the stands yelling at your boy Chad Pennington tomorrow at Arrowhead (Chiefs season tix holder for 15 years now), should be a great game though as Jets are a strong team, weather supposed to be hot (around 90 degrees) tomorrow and Priest will have a big day .... will be interesting to see if KC's off-season defensive moves help, that should be the key to try & keep Curtis Martin & Chad in check as Chiefs will get their points (even against a stout Jet defense) .... just have to limit the Jets scoring (duh obviously) .... good luck in week 1.
