That UAB team TN struggled against is a damn good team! Also a well coached team too! I don't think many people realize that and that is why FL is -6. FL also would have struggled opening their season against UAB.

You have no idea how god UAB is. I have gone down and watched them practice (as well as Alabama)(havent seen Auburn practice but I saw their A-day game and sSHEESH, ALWAYS BET THE UNDER THIS YEAR)and I am amazed. They are the best team in Alabama this year. Give Tennessee credit for pulling that one from the mouth of Jaws.

Tennessee Enjoys Underdog Role
By ELIZABETH A. DAVIS
AP Sports Writer

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ? Two weeks ago, Tennessee was supposed to win big. Now the Volunteers find themselves in a more comfortable position as underdogs against No. 6 Florida.

Fifth-ranked Tennessee (1-0) is 42-11 on the road since 1992, a record that includes some upsets in the state of Florida. They will try to win again in The Swamp on Saturday.

"It's a mind-set, and truly each team and each game stands on its own. It takes a certain amount of really outstanding leadership and maturity on the team. I think we have that. We'll find out a lot about ourselves this week and next. This is a tremendous challenge," coach Phillip Fulmer said Tuesday.

He said the team has looked good in practice so far, but added: "I'll tell you a lot more on Saturday night after the game."

Some oddsmakers have the Gators as a six-point favorite. Players say they enjoy hostile crowds and feed off a lack of respect, which they probably will get the next two weeks. The Vols travel to No. 3 LSU on Sept. 24.

Tennessee opened the season with a lackluster performance in a 17-10 win at home over UAB that didn't do much to bolster its No. 3 preseason ranking. The Vols were picked to win by three touchdowns.

"I feel like we have to go out and earn respect, and the only way to do that is go out and play hard for four quarters and win," cornerback Jason Allen said.

Rick Clausen got the nod as the starting quarterback for Florida after coming off the bench behind Erik Ainge against UAB. Ainge is expected to play part of the game.

"We're going to find out pretty quick," Clausen said when asked how he expects to play in a pressure situation. "The louder it is, the better it is. That's the way I look at it, just because there's nothing better than going to another person's stadium and trying to silence the crowd."

Clausen's older brother, Casey, enjoyed his trips to Florida in 2001 and 2003, and both of those games were examples of Tennessee's success as an underdog on the road.

The Vols, a 17 1/2-point underdog in 2001, had not won in Gainesville since 1971.

Tennessee beat the Gators again two years ago and returned to the state later in the season to face then-No. 6 Miami, which had won 26 straight at home. Tennessee came away with a 10-6 victory.

Ainge, who helped the Vols set up James Wilhoit's game-winning field goal in last year's 30-28 victory in Knoxville, says he plays better on the road.

"I think sometimes at home you get too comfortable. I think when you're on the road ... you thrive on the other teams' and fans' energy," he said. "It's easier to get ready. You're just thinking about the game."
.......................................................................................

I am thinking Tenn wins this game.

Pinnacle Pulse Week 2: The inside line from PinnacleSports.com
by Simon Noble

Tennessee (+6) at Florida

Tennessee struggled against UAB two weeks ago, salvaging a 17-10 win but the Vols are coming off a bye week with two weeks to prepare for this match-up. In the UAB game, Tennessee tried two different QBs and will likely play both against Florida.

Although Florida has outscored its opponents 73-17, it has yet to play a team of Tennessee's caliber. Florida coach Urban Meyer, now in his first year at Florida, had a lifetime record of 39-8 as a head coach before his 2-0 start this year.

The Gators opened as a 3.5-pt favorite, but early public money quickly drove this up to 6. The sharps are opposing the public bettors, taking Tennessee and the points. With sharps and public in opposition on the game, this spread will probably close in the +5.5 to +6.5 range, but we are unlikely to see +7.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Southeastern Conference official who received death threats after a controversial penalty in last year's Florida-Tennessee game has been removed from Saturday's rematch, Florida Today reported.

SEC supervisor of officials Bobby Gaston tells the paper he reassigned side judge Bobby Moreau for safety reasons.

Moreau made the personal foul call on Florida receiver Dallas Baker in the closing moments of Tennessee's 30-28 win in Knoxville last year.

Officials also mistakenly stopped the clock after the penalty with 55 seconds remaining. The miscue gave the Volunteers more time to set up James Wilhoit's game-winning, 50-yard field goal with six seconds to play.

Moreau's crew was assigned to officiate Saturday's game in Gainesville. Moreau, however, will be in Nashville, working the Vanderbilt-Mississippi game.

INtheBlue you are crazy if you think UAB is the best team in the state. You must be a delusional UAT fan. Anyway, I agree. Tenn plus the points.

tough call. i was at the ole mis game vs memphis. memphis could have won the game. having said that, ole miss could have won by 2td's but bad throws resulted in fewer points.not to mention ole miss kicker - he missed 2fg. i was not very impressed with ole miss. we had a sophmore qb in the entire game - he had started.

i know nothing about vandy, but i am not sold on ole miss. sorry, i cannot be of much help.

LMAO, No not an Alabama fan. In fact I have seen more Auburn games live than anything. I was at the FL / Auburn game when Auburn bested the #1 team in the country. I have very close ties to AUburn. including putting my lil bro through there.

BUT did you see the Auburn spring A-day game?
OH MY GOD! 9-0. Yes 3 field goals. I have seen 2 high schools with less personal mistakes. You, wait, they wont score over 20 points on any team that finishes with a top half of the country defense.

UAB is a lot better than people think. Auburn is rebuilding, and after a couple of games when everybody on Alabama's team is out hurt, I would say that UAT will be the worst team in the state.

So from what I have seen so far, YEAH, I think UAB is the best college team in the state.

Ever since UAB beat them in Basketball in 1993, UAT has a fear of getting knocked off by the little brother. I even have the T-shirt that says UAB 58- UAT - 56
