Nebraska (-10.5) over Pitt
After watching pitt play ohio this team is a joke. Running back the opening kick against Ohio, then not scoring or having any form of offense for the rest of the game. Palko shows zero ability to make throws and the right decision. Not to mention the trouble with the o-line the Nebraska defense should be in the back field all day. Then you have Wanstadt want to establish the running game theory. If it didn't work against ND and ohio is shouldn't work against Nebraska at home. I HATE Callahan and I think he is a terrible coach but he does have talent and defense something the panthers do not.

ND (-6) over Mich st
This is only a play based on the home field advantage. I was leaning towards state because of Drew Stanton (has looked great and has the ability to make plays with his feet) but this is the only home game for the Irish within the first five games. Now the Irish have looked sharp offensively but I don?t think they have been tested defensively. Pitt is terrible and Mich hasn?t shown the defense it has in the past. Looking at the Spartan offense they are the second best in NCAA granted that is against Kent and Hawaii and ND has a better defense only giving up 221 passing yards per game. ND beat State in Lansing last year 31-24 but the Spartans have won their last 4 games going back into last season. Still the ND offense has new found confidence and swagger. Couple that with what should be an electric crowd the Irish will come out swinging. Also this is the first road game for the Spartans. Still it is very troubling with a little bit of let down from the Michigan game but having this game at home should be enough of a motivator for these kids. That and Wies is a solid coach that knows how to get these guys focused and ready. The Spartans have only given up 14 points in their past two games but those offenses were not nearly as solid as ND. Still the ND defense has to step up at limit what Stanton will do. Still think ND @ home will not over look a 2-0 team, and with full attention it should look a lot like the Michigan game but the Irish will have more in the tank because of the crowd.

Utah (-3) vs. TCU
The horned frogs beat an overrated Oklahoma team and showed they might have what it takes. Then they fall to SMU, a team that lost to Baylor! Gunn showed poor decision making going 16-36 and threw 3 interceptions (4 Ints on the year and ONLY 1 TD) that game. The Utah defense is stronger up front and quicker in the secondary than SMU (SMU held TCU to 10 points). Utah faced an tough Arizona team but costly turnovers paid off for the Utes and then they have instate rival Utah St and they hung a pretty big number on a pretty bad team. However this is the first home game for the frogs and they normally play pretty tough on their on turf AND this is the Utes first away game. Gather has been a solid RB and has taken a lot of pressure off QB Johnson. If the TCU defense can key on Gather like they did on Peterson (NOT like Martin/ SMU 3 TD?s 118 yards on 26 carries) the horn frogs should be successful. TCU defense held SMU to 273 total yards but that included 3 scores. Merrill is a good RB for TCU and they also have Hobbs however he was injured and not sure how effective he will be tonight. All things considered, last week was a let down game from TCU beating the #7 team in the nation. The might not have had enough in the tank to get emotionally geared up for the ?Battle of the skillet?. After looking at all of this TCU is given too much credit and offensively hasn?t shown efficient ball movement. Tulsa and TCU scored each scored 17 on Oklahoma, So that shows the Oklahoma defense isn?t the greatest. TCU recovered 4 fumbles by Oklahoma and only 17 points in that game. Then you have to look at SMU holding that offense scoreless, considering a kickoff return was the only TD. The running game of Utah and its defense should keep this offense off balance and lead to some more poor throws from Gunn.

GT (-15) over UConn
Liberty and Buffalo have not gotten the huskies ready to go into GT. The yellowjackets have won against Auburn and a tough game vs UNC. The GT offense has been playing well and they have only had a problem running out the clock. GT and UConn have meet 3 times most recently a 30-10 GT win in 2004. The Uconn staff has done a good job of getting a few games under new starter Bonislawski, but this is a much tougher and faster defense then he has seen. The Uconn defense has looked solid only giving up 269 yards in 2 games but again that was against terrible teams. HOWEVER the UConn special teams are struggling, the punter has been shanking the ball (avg 36.2 yards per punt) and the kicker doesn?t have the best leg. GT?s defense held UNC to 61 and Auburn to 50 yards rushing. Now that Ball has become a better passer Johnson and Bilbo should have a big game with the IMO bad secondary of UConn. The one bad thing about this game is it is right before the VT game in blackburg so the jackets might be looking forward. Still think the Tech defense holds the huskies to almost nothing.

Miami (-7) over Clemson
The Miami offense wasn?t too bad against FSU and they had terrible time with special teams and some costly turnovers were a big difference. I think Clemson plays very well at home but the Miami Hurricane IMO are too solid defensively to give up too many points to that offense. The Canes come into Death Valley looking for revenge from last year and to rebound from their first game. Not to mention that the tigers have had 2 come from behind emotional wins the last past 2 weeks, while the Canes had off last week to prepare for this game. Whitehurst has looked solid running the Clemson offense but this defense should force some turnovers. At home the TA&M Aggies rolled over 200 yards rushing compared to the less than 100 last week against Maryland. Still the big O-line should open up some room for Moss and if the running game gets going it should be easier for Wright to find his receivers against a poor Clemson secondary. This also opens up Wrights favorite receivers Olsen and Ortiz the TE?s down the middle of the field. This is a tough rivalry but the speed of the defense and the ability on offense should have Miami rebounding in this game. Clemson is a different monster at home.

hard lean..may not have time for a write-up
Kansas Jayhawks (-14)

UVA (-&) over Cuse
The UVA cavs have some talent on offense and shouldn't really have a problem with IMO a poor Cuse defense. This Cuse team lost to WVU after the Neers gave up four umbles. Petterson has not show the ability to make plays and the UVA LB's should be all over Reyes. In the coaching match-up the edge goes to UVA. A better defense a running scrambling QB and a solid RB should be enough for the Cavs in NY.

Neb down to -8.5? I might be mising something, but hasn't Pitt showed just down right awful play over their last two games?

Irish, good luck today. I started a 3-team teaser on Monday night with Phily. I need Nebraska and Wake Forest today to cash in. Pitt will have a really long day against Neb defense.
