Why would you bet against these guys. THis is a team the oddsmakers have not caught up with and will not all season. They have had the top recruiting class the past three years. WHat people fail to figure out is that there 2nd and 3rd teamers are better than most teams 1st teamers. Hell how many future NFL guys are not starting right now? So, when they bring in the 2nd unit they will outclass most 1st strings. If you look at USC last year they had trouble covering in the 1st half, but in the 2nd half they were unstoppable. Not sure of the numbers but made a shitload last year betting USC 2nd half and have made a shitload already betting the 2nd half this year. The oddsmakers still even from last year have not caught on to the 2nd half line. I suppose they found decent numbers to entice two way action. I guess they figure if they put the 2nd half to high they are risking getting killed. Not sure about this but a theory. Quit betting against these guys and load up on the 2nd half. Quit thinking about betting ORegon and save your money and load up on USC 2ndhalf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can, just not heavy - especially after the line goes up another 2 points.... I don't think UO can win, but I can see a pretty hotly contested 1st Q/1st H with maybe a back door cover with the Ducks' O.

Remember LY, USC fell asleep at the wheel a few times.

I think USC is 30-11 ATS their last 41 games!

WHat people fail to figure out is that there 2nd and 3rd teamers are better than most teams 1st teamers.

USC 2nd string and 3rd string offense moved the ball against the 1st string defense of Arkansas.

Hell how many future NFL guys are not starting right now? So, when they bring in the 2nd unit they will outclass most 1st strings.

Scouts come to a lot of the USC practices. That is the reason the Patriots drafted backup QB Matt Cassel who only threw 30 something career passes at USC. He signed BTW with Pats! These scouts have said the entire starting offense will be DRAFTED into the NFL. Some scouts are quoted as saying the the entire 1st and 2nd string offense will be drafted into the NFL!

Carroll a month ago said he is only recruiting high school players he thinks has 1st round NFL talent. Guess he is a man of his word!

If you look at USC last year they had trouble covering in the 1st half, but in the 2nd half they were unstoppable.

BLAME NORM CHOW! Well not exactly but USC OC's this year go for the kille from the start. Chow was a mastermind and toyed with the opposing defense. That is why whenever USC needed the right play called in a crucial momeny, Chow always had a play that worked to perfection. But Chow never went for the kill. Then again, last year USC had brand new OL, new WR's, new FB, 2nd string TE, and they still won the NC! So maybe Chow was the real deal but the USC OC's now go for the kill from the start. I said USC would do this before season started. The OC's are 31 and 32 years old but extremely bright. That is why Carroll let Chow leave.

Not sure of the numbers but made a shitload last year betting USC 2nd half and have made a shitload already betting the 2nd half this year. The oddsmakers still even from last year have not caught on to the 2nd half line.

You are right about the backups but there are 2 other more important reasons USC excels in the 2h. USC is the best conditioned team in the country with the #1 S&C coach in Carlyse. Carroll says I want this player to lose 30pounds, he does. NOBODY is out of shape at USC. Amazing. Look at Leinart this year. He is STRONGER and even FASTER. Same with Reggie Bush! RB White lost all his baby fat and is faster than he was last year. Usually players get complacent after winning 2 NC's in a row but they all know the high school recruits Carroll brings in have the opportunity to beat them out. Carroll gave Booty the chance to beat out Leinart this year! No joke! Nobody in the country plays more freshman than USC and this brings a huge competitiveness in practices and off season workouts. No job is safe.

FYI, Norm Chow never would play his backup QB's. Matt Cassel had 30 career passes at USC and he was 5th year player. This year, Booty has come in very early and they are preparing him very well to take over Leinart. That is something I didn't like about Chow. Now USC won't have huge dropoff at QB play next year! :) Booty is more "physically" talented than Leinart. So this can have impact on USC covering 2h numbers. Carroll will play 2nd-4th stringers on defense as well. USC went 6-deep against Arkansas at some positions. EVERYONE played including walk ons! Great team morale! You think everyone as team practices hard this week knowing they played last game and got to contribute? Carroll just gets it! You will never find a better CFB HC than Pete Carroll. Mark that down!

USC started season with A BRAND NEW OL, FB, WR's, and 1st string TE injured half the year!

On Defense USC had new DB's and DE's!

That is why Carroll is such a great coach. People don't realize how young and inexperienced USC was last year. Amazing.

This year USC started season with only new DT's and new LB's and thats it. Now that USC sufferend DB injury, they are weak there. Everybody is back on offense. You have seen the results!

Almost every team breaks in new playes at some position every year. Isn't that what happens in college?

What about USC AT Stanford? AT Wazzu? AT OSU? Nobody is saying that USC is the inferior better team - they're head and shoulders above every other team in the PAC-10 much less the entire country. All I'm saying is there is some value in taking UO and the points at home - the Poster asked a question (begging for someone to answer in the negative) and I elected to give an answer.

I actually enjoy your posts, Scott, and think that you often have a rational reason behind many of your comments. I also know you love USC
(surprising) with all your heart, probably wear USC PJs, sleep under a USC blankie and drink USC Kool-aid (Jim Jones style) but answer me this: have you ever for one second of your time spent on this earth even remotely close to possibly being wrong?

I guess I'm just retarded and USC will not only win every game, but will cover every game too. Hey, if thats the case, maybe I should just put on some USC PJs and lay chalk on them all year too!

Nevertheless, I repeat again: THEY ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE NCAA!

Go ahead and respond with a diatribe the size of a Gutenberg Bible.....

Peace.

I was explaining why USC didn't dominate every opponent last year. Show me a CFB team that had 4 new starters at OL, 2 new starters at WR, new FB, 2nd string TE (1st string got injured)

So please don't say every CFB team has that. USC had that last year!

Why did I bring that up? Because you said USC sleepwalked through teams. THAT IS WRONG! USC was competing with young and inexperienced players. Of course they are not going to dominate their opponents with young and inexperienced players at KEY positions. It might seem they sleepwalked but that isn't the truth.

Now do you understand? Don't take offense to it. Learn from it. I am not trying to offend you. So please don't think that.

BTW, there are great reasons to take Oregon +21 over USC. I never said that was a bad bet.

Oregon St. game was played in FOG. You couldn't see more than 15 yards downfield. Also VERY difficult to watch on TV. Stanford game Stanford played great and got breaks in 1h. USC dominated 2h and Stanford never crossed 50 in 2h. USC beat both WA schools soundly.

I'm sorry, Scott, you are 100% right - no team has ever suffered the devistation that poor USC did last year - especially when the 'devistation' remained apparent all the way through to the end of the season, hence the reason USC didn't cover against OSU and UCLA.

Will you please accept my apology and completely disregard my comments?

i'm taking 3 td's with a quality pac-10 home team. also sc can only travel with so many players and they are missing quality starters. reggie bush is not playing defense, so i'll take the +21.

You worded it incorrectly. Nobody in the country had the same type of success as USC with the same type of inexperience USC had to overcome. You think USC sleepwalked through couple games. I wanted to point out that I don't think USC sleepwalked, they just were too young to dominate their opponents. Because of the success USC had, you take it USC sleepwalked because they didn't blow out every opponent. I think think USC being inexperienced at OL, WR, FB, and 2nd string TE is valid. Last year really was a rebuilding year for USC. No need to be sarcastic. Just talk x's and o's. You can still think USC sleepwalked but I explained why I disagree with you. No need to take offense if someone disagrees with your opinion.

Thank you for correcting the words that came from my mind. I wouldn't be sarcastic if you wouldn't comment as to the accuracy of my personal opinion...

and I'm not taking it personally - I deal with guys with your method of thinking on a daily basis (not intended to be offensive). As I said, I don't discount everything you write just because you can't think beyond Pasadena. Good luck on your bets this week.

BUT

Here's the question everyone really wants to know..........

Do ya?

Huh Scott?

Do ya?

Do you have Trojan PJ's?

JK

Scott I am glad you are so passionate about USC. It really does help others in their capping. I take your opinions with a very small grain of salt. But I take your facts and put them into my figuring for caps.

Thanks for caring soooooo much Scott.

USC may be great but so far this year they have played 2 shitty..........did I say shitty..........I mean shitty teams in Hawaii and Arkansas..........Ark lost at home to Vandy .........so there is a lot of season left..........

This current reign of USC TROJAN TEAM may be the greatest team of all time.

If you bet the Trojans for the game and are behind in the 1st half, you can always bet The Trojans in the second half and recover.

CALIFORNIA huge obstacle and of The Fighting Irish
