after seeing tonight's trap/bad capping/wishful thinking///i'm starting to question my minn-2' tomorrow against psu. there is no way penn state should win that game. minn is a better team in every regard from what i've seen so far this year. but that said, why are they only small fav's? could be a lot of penn state money which is typical, but i worry that the books are just begging you to take minn. :look:

Not really much of an opinion on what to bet here. Just comments.
Penn State is very unproven so far this year. A very soft schedule and just did squeak by last week.
That said, they've got a very experienced defense that was good last year.
JoePa has always been a winner, and you know he wants to silence everyone this year. I really think it just took him a long time to adjust to both the recent trends in college football as well as all the parity. During the last few years, he's had a lot less talent and has refused to change his style.
To be honest, I wonder what is on Joe's mind as far as retiring. Does he want one good season and then leave on a high note? Is he going to compete against Bowden as long as he possibly can? Maybe he just wants to coach until the day he dies.
I like Pa and always have. Not only does he have a couple National Titles, but also 7 (I think) undefeated seasons including '94 when he finished 2nd in the polls. How do you finish unbeaten at Penn State and not win the title? 5 times?
My money's going to be on Penn State, but think it will be close. I'd love to have +3.

Im on minny with no doubt, they have already won me a lot of money this year. I follow them pretty close . PSU won't be as big a problem as people think. It will be a 10 point game. Ive posted minny stats in other threads if ya wanna check them out.

A very interesting, tough game here. I live near Minneapolis and pay close attention to the Gophers. This IS a big lull game for them, and historically under Mason they have come out flat after a big win. Last week's win was HUGE for Mason and the program, and they have been talking some about the tough schedule, Michigan on deck, etc.

Ranked road favorite against an unranked home dog angle - who is undefeated and VERY motivated. Always a strong angle to play against.

Mason is one of 3 or 4 coaches to have beaten Paterno 4 times. If he wins today, he will be the only one to do it 5 times- not a big deal for capping purposes, but he seems to have a good plan against Joe Pa, evidently.

Minnesota really seems to be responding well to the new defensive coordinator. They are actually HITTING people this year, and came up big last week against a team that usually KILLS them offensively. Very impressed with that, and could offset the great young talent Penn State has at receiver a bit.

I think the number is about right, really. Normally, I would immediately go against the Gophers for the traditional reasons I outlined above. I am not sold on Cupito as a game manager, and he still makes some TERRIBLE decisions and throws. But he grew up some last week and make continue to grow. Hard to say.

It's a dangerous spot for the Gophers. But these Gophers seem to be a little bit better in key areas that past Mason teams, in ways that help in a hostile environment.

There are some rambling thoughts. I will probably stay away from this game, as I scored BIG with last week's win based on the unranked home fav angle - like we have today in reverse - for Minnesota.

I think they are a very good team, and can control the game with Maroney (and his backup is terrific, too). But this one should be close, in Happy Valley. Good luck to you if you play it.

Blue - I warned you that PSU matches up better against Minny than a Northwestern. Maroney - 16 carries /40+ or something - even I didn't think that would happen. :)

Hopefully you pounded Va Tech or the Michigan Over.

Good Luck tomorrow :)
