First off, HOW ABOUT THAT CRIMSON TIDE?!?! And in case any of you were watching the game, I was the guy on CBS last week at the end of the broadcast holding up the CBS (Can't Beat Shula!) sign and wearing the houndstooth hat! It was awesome and even though losing our playmaker (Prothro) hurts, I still think Bama is good enough to win the West if the Tide can get by Tennessee (mentally tough to win that one now).

Last week was very successful. Had Bowling Green as the best bet (-29) and they covered easily by winning 70-7 over Temple. My best bets are anything over 10 units, while strong plays are 6 to 10 and other is 5 or below. I'm up 21.1 units so far since posting and here are some games I like early on, but don't know what to wager yet. Please give me your opinions on what you think of the list.

Best Bets (2)
LSU -14.5 (buy to 14) @ Vandy
Bowling Green -22.5 v. Ohio

Strong Plays
Maryland -27 @ Temple (Temple is easy to pick on!)
Texas -14.5 v. OU (buy down to 14)

Other Plays
N. Texas -3 v. Troy
Georgia Tech -4.5 v. NC State
BC -6.5 v. Virginia

Games I'd like feedback on to see what you guys think...
Cincinnati +13 @ Pitt
USC -36.5 v. Arizona
Colorado -3.5 v. Texas A&M
Texas Tech -3.5 @ Nebraska
Colorado St. -4 v. Utah
Louisville -11.5 v. North Carolina

Let me hear from ya!

13 plays and 12 favorites (six of DD) would have me a little scared. and the lone dog strikes me as side that will be a very 'public' dog.

They may be good enough to win the West, but so is LSU and Auburn. My guess is you'll piss on that can't beat shula sign before the end of October. Plus, no current Tide player has ever beaten Auburn.

First let's talk about Shula. I have been a Shula supporter from day one and believe he is good enough. Look at last year. Bama played with a second and third string team as starters last year and the Tide never got blown out. Shula had Bama ready and competitive in every single game! That's good coaching no matter what you say, plus the depth sucked because of probation. I know LSU is good enough to win the west, but them losing to Tennessee really helped out, plus we get them in Bryant-Denny. Auburn is good on defense but young on offense with Brandon Cox leading the way. Auburn is a good team and they do scare me, but will they be able to overcome the youth factor?? Sounds to me like you're a little upset that Bama is back in the national spotlight! And if you want to start some bashing...how bout Auburn making up a poll and claiming the People's National Title??? Didn't some 17 year old kid start that up?! Are you kidding me? And I bet your next comment is going to be about how Alabama claims titles from the past. Well at least it was an actual poll that was outside of a 50 mile radius of where our school is located AND Bama has been screwed on titles as well. Like in 1966 (Bama was 2 time defending champs) the Tide goes 10-0 while Michigan and Notre Dame both finish 9-0-1. Bama finishes 3rd!!! How do you justify that?!?! Roll Tide!

So. Cal
all favs and buying down points on two of them?????

why are you buying down points on texas? the line is dropping

you are a college kid and obviously a rookie gambler....some advice....betting all favs, teasers and parlays is the quickest way to the poor house.

Remember I may not play all of those. I always buy down just to be safe. To me it's worth it to buy the half point so you don't get screwed.

Simple math - in the long run you screw yourself buying points.

Moreover, if you think that point or half makes a difference, it isnt a bet you should be making.

agree with suntzu......not to buy on what you think are key numbers in college.

So. Cal
exactly...if you are buying a 1/2 point (especially in college) why are you betting the game?

in the long run, buying points and betting teasers is a losing proposition that costs you money

Thank you Stabler 12. Guys I'm not looking for you to be my dad and tell me about how I've picked 12 favorites, etc. One I'm not playing every game. Right now I'm playing the ones under Best Bet and Strong Plays. I'm just looking for inside info on some of those games. I know you're trying to help, but I'll be fine...I'm just looking for info on games. And buying is just something I do. For instance Saturday, I took BC -38.5 (buy to 38) v. Ball State. I thought BC would beat them 56-0 bc of the starter situation for Ball State. Well BC won 38-0 so that buy looked very good! Anyways, make posts like Stabler-12....just game info and opinions.

Crimson,

I know you don't want this type of respnonse but the responses from these guys are spot-on. Buying points in general is bad business. It will pull you out of the fire once in a blue moon but paying an extra 10% on every game you do this on is suicide. I was a book all through college and not a single college kid beat me because they bought points, played teasers and parlays, and played EVERY game on primetime TV. Slow down and pick your spots, I have been a pro gambler for 5 years now, its rough and you have ZERO chance of making anything in this game playing the way you are.

As for your games:
I think you are on the wrong side of 3 out of 4 of your Best Bets and Strong Plays. I am on Vandy this week, as for the others i only really like colorado (by the way, seems strange you wouldn't buy them down to 3)

Good Luck

on your best bets and strong plays i like texas, and i would fade the other 3. Still not even sure about tex. also, io think cincy and tech are 2 of the biggest traps on board this weekend. Public coming out firing on the natti' and this team deserves no backing. Line was set to intice Natti' betting and that is what vegas will get. Pitt probably beats this #.

You asked for opinions on your selections.

One of the most serious minded handicappers in this forum makes a comment that of your 13 selections, you like 12 favorites, six of which are double digit chalk.

Your reply is:

"First let's talk about Shula. I have been a Shula supporter from day one and blah, blah, blah...."

"I'm up 21.1 units since posting blah, blah, blah..."

"Had BG as the best bet (-29) and they covered easily blah, blah, blah..."

I wish you the very best in your wagering, but personally, I think you like to hear yourself talk.
