Is this game over priced ? Carpenter has logged 241 in this year, this guy has never been this far and his era is 10+ the L4 & the Cards are 1-3 in those games. ADD to that, Al Reyes came out sunday with a sprained elbow,He is their best middle guy and if Carpenter does what he has of late would be the guy Tony would go to. Stl Pen has not been what it was, (L3 ) 4.63 era. Peavy shut these guys down the last time he faced them.

agree completely - I am willing to bet the Padres in one game and probably game 1 only. Although the Padre bats aren't the best, neither are the Cards bats either. This isn't exactly the scariest linup. At +155, Peavy is the play

Also think the Cards will be tight. Do you think if they get down early or lose game 1, those last 4 games to end their season won't come creeping into a few heads ? SD has nothing to lose.

definitly do buy into the "tight" angle. Just look at Cleveland collapse and all the other teams that had the opportunity to play spoiler in the last couple weeks. San Diego is happy to be there and is starting from scratch - anything can happen. The Cardinals know they are suuposed to win - Padres know they are supposed to lose...this is good motvation.

I'm not saying the Padres are goign to win this series, but they will compete - I don't see a sweep by any means
