If you are reading this you have probably had a winning season to this point. Here's a few things I've learned thru the years that might help you keep some of your hard won money.
Baseball is divided into 3 seasons. Before the All-Star break, after the All-Star break and the play-offs. We are now coming to the play-offs and believe me some of us are going to be on the wrong side consistently. I will be very careful in picking my spots.
As you know if you read my posts, a lot of what I do during the regular season is dictated by the umpires. I'll address this first. Every thing I do during the play-offs will be dictated by the umpire crew. Now this needs some explanation and here it is. Forget everything any ump has done during the regular season because he probably won't do it during the play-offs. These are the best of the best and they will meet as a crew and decide what strike zone they will use and they will all look alike. I'm sure the players and managers will know before the game what zone will be used and make what-ever moves they need to make before the game. A narrow zone favs the hitters and a wide zone favs the pitchers. They might use a narrow zone in one ball park and a wide one when they change parks. Why is this important?
Major league players can all hit if the ball comes down the middle and any major league pitcher can look like a Cy Young winner if he has enough room to operate. Narrow strike zones usually means the game goes over, wide zone has more chance of going under. The pitchers that can handle both zones will be the ones that have the best chance at success. Very seldom will they change the zone from game to game but will from park to park.
If team A has the better hitting and team B the better pitching then both have a chance to play to their strengths.
If you keep this in mind when picking the side or total you will probably do a little better than usual.
Good luck and I hope we all just add a little to what we have done so far.
