I lost a bet tonight on them, for for some reason, I am not even bitter. I am glad the evil empire fell...It will be a great series w/ the Wsox...well pitched - definitely looking forward to it

I'm kind of feeling sorry for the yanks fans out there tonight. If it's any consolation, at least the bombers got to play 2 more games than those red sox :mj07:

Yankee bashing is in vogue mostly by a younger generation that doesn't understand the tradition and history of the game. I understand that, but you have the Jets Logo as your Avatar? You're probably still running around smelling Joe Namath's jock strap.

Clowns like you make me laugh. Ask people anywhere in the world to name an American MLB team and who do you think they'll name the Boston Red Sox? Now that's funny.

As for Jason Giambi I will say this...... Who was the ONLY player to be honest and straight forward about using steroids? "I did it I made a big mistake and I apologize. I'm clean now and I want to earn back the respect of the fans." He quietly and professionally showed a great deal of class. But then someone like you doesn't understand class. Losers never do.

Whatever Spud...Sox fan or no, everyone knows Giambi is on something. Take a look at his "I stopped eating junk food" pics before the season to his horrible performance through May to his unexplained muscle gain...Even Gammo has noted this. To deny the possibilty that Giambi has succombed to the pressure and is back on performance enhancing substances is completely assinine. The "comeback player of the year" sponsored by a performance enhancing company BTW is insane. Get a clue.

And I quote Buster Olney "We'd also be na?ve to think that some players are not taking advantage of the enormous loophole in the system: You can take HGH risk-free, because while it's on the list of banned substances, there is no test for it.

Is Giambi using HGH? I don't know. It would be irresponsible to say that he is taking something, and just as irresponsible to say that he isn't taking anything; we don't know either way. We just evaluate the information at hand and make judgments for ourselves.

Giambi has gotten credit for supposedly being honest about the steroid matter, and I completely disagree. After giving his testimony in the BALCO case, he was asked direct questions by reporters about whether he took steroids. Giambi didn't give a no comment, or simply say he wouldn't answer the question. He flatly said he didn't take steroids. That was a lie.

When the grand jury testimony was leaked to the San Francisco Chronicle, we learned that Giambi had testified under oath about using steroids. He doesn't get extra credit points for that; he was legally compelled to tell the truth, and in effect, he was protecting his own interests.

Giambi did meet with the media a couple of months later, but would say only that he had told the truth in his testimony about what happened; he wouldn't use the word "steroids." And then Giambi pulled another misdirection, using the strategy now known as the Rafael Palmeiro Defense: He told reporters he couldn't discuss his testimony, in his instance because of the on-going BALCO case.

That wasn't an honest answer, either. Giambi was free to say anything he wanted, just as Palmeiro was free to say anything he wanted. The reason why Giambi didn't: He didn't want to put his $120 million contract at risk. Instead of just saying that -- Look, folks, I'm not talking about it because of my contract -- he made it seem like he was fulfilling a civic duty in refusing to discuss grand jury testimony."

Enough about Giambi being "honest and straightforward". I am so tired of this.

A lot of people out of New York area don't understand. If you a Met fan, you despise the Yanks. Jet fans hate the gents. I went to NYC this summer. Visiting my friend in Staten Island, the Red Sox were playing at Yankee stadium. My prick friend refused to take me because he hates the Yankees so much. I told him we can pull for the sox. He said no way. Im still pissed. I want to see a yankees / sox game at Fenway, and Yankee stadium before I die. Im a Met fan living in Alabama.... So my I dont hate them that much. I just love going to MLB parks.

Ferd & Soul

Come on guys. I've been a baseball fan for decades & I Do understand the "I'm a Met fan and I hate the Yankees" scenerio. When I was growing up there was only one baseball team I cared about the Yanks. Back then it was Yankee fans and Dodger fans. I still hate the Brooklyn Bums. Moving to LA didn't change that, they're still the BUMS to me and I still hate the Dodgers. LOL I love my Yanks but I'm certainly no George Steinbrenner fan, he's a first class A-Hole. I see Mel Stottlemeyer has resigned and yes Soul I too expect that Joe Torre will follow. I want to apologize Soul for the Joe Namath smart ass comment because I've been a Jet fan every since Joe signed his contract with Weeb Eubank on the field after the Orange Bowl and that's been a while. I've suffered just like you and all Jet fans as we continually screwed up on draft day year after year. Still, Joe's guarantee before the Championship game against Baltimore was one of my all time great sports memories.

I would expect nothing less from a Beantowner.
You guys always have all the answers up there. You continually whine about how the Yankees try to buy the pennant but let's be honest. How many of these players are out of the Boston farm system. Papi Ortiz? NO Jason Varitek? NO, Edgar Renteria? NO Manny Ramirez? NO Johnny Damon? NO Curt Schilling? NO. Talk about trying to buy a World Series. And, wasn't Boston heavy into the bidding for Alex Rodriguez? You only know what you read in the Globe. I probaby should be more civil because the terminology you use "Whatever" tells me you're young and still wet behind the ears. Your frustration is understandable since you had to wait a hundred years to finally win the Series and then this year you were SWEPT out of the playoffs without even a whimper. Say what you want about Giambi but the fact is he had to face the sport worlds toughest press and fans yet did it like a man with no whining, no excuses.

Agent

You sound like a true baseball fan. I too will go to a MLB game anytime, anywhere I can. So far only been able to see 11 MLB parks but I still have a dream to see at least one game in every major league park. I even went to Dodger Stadium to see a game and for me that's paramount to treason.

Ain't sports great guys. Where else will you find such loyalty. LOL
