They shouldnt win, but something tells me they do. Would be nice however if they had more than 2 guys who can outhit me. You know, when you have Orlando Palmeio in the 6 hole there is a significant problem.

Gman, agree with you on the white sox to win the series, but the price is -170 at olympic right now. Still contemplating whether to pull the trigger big on this one. Was hoping the line would be -150, and I think the line will probably move higher. How strong of a play do you think this is considering the price? Which way do you think the line will move?

i didnt see the opening line, but dodger said he saw chicago upward of 180-ish (i believe he got anaheim for somewhere in the +170 range) so it appears the line has come down a tad. like yourself, i expected somewhere in the -150 range as well. -170 is a little steeper than id like, but (at least this time) throwing a bit of caution to the wind and putting 2 units on -170. not a huge play, but a solid wager on the white sox to advance.

Good luck with the play. I have to say I do not agree with your analysis of the Tribe pullpen over the Angels, as Anaheim keeps proving in the playoffs they can get out of jams and have better long men as Santana proved last night. Maybe this isn't a fair way to do it, but without seeing Cleveland's pen put into the pressure of a playoffs it's hard to give them the nod. I am also not sold on Wickman being anything more than a one year answer who caught lightning in a bottle. Reminds me a bit of Mesa in '95, an average closer who pitched out of his mind for a season. Potentially taking Colon out of the mix swings the starters well into the Indians favor, that I agree. They had the edge in that one with or without Bartolo.

The fact that you never lay chalk, especially to the tune of -170, should command attention. Obviously you see something pretty strong to lay that kind of lumber, because we all know you love the doggies. Hope some people take notice.

Thanks for the info.

G.. gotta side with you here. However, I think you in most cases you have to disregard what happened in the regular season in baseball. Both of these teams are playing with a TON of confidence. The reason the Angels stuck w/Santana last night was the "look in his eyes" and that has carried through the entire team. Figgins, Cabrera and Molina are red hot. Vlad didn't do much and is ready to explode. On the other hand, the Sox are feeling invincible too. I think the diff. will be starting pitching in this series though and CSox have the better arms with Lacky having pitched Sun and Colon potentially out. Sox take the first two before LAA knows what hit them..

It's a big price, but it should pay off.

Gman, I agree with you that Chicago is the better play in this series. The only thing that concerns me in the least bit, is the pressure of the moment getting to Jenks now that the stakes are higher. Anaheim's combo of Shields and Rodriguez is second to none. Well, I guess you could argue that Wheeler and Lidge are just as good, but you get my point. I do like Anaheim to win game one however. I think the Angels will ride the momentum of last night's victory into Chicago tonight. The time off will likely hurt the White Sox in this spot. Best of luck to you! I will be looking for your plays throughout the remainder of the playoffs.

gman, for what i think must be the first time ever, i flat out disagree with you. the indians bullpen? better than the angels? from top to bottom, i think the angels probably have the best pen in the majors this year.

losing colon certainly hurts, but i still think the angels are the better team here. it should be a great series though. the advantages the angels held over the yankees (pitching, pitching, pitching, defense, and "small ball")... they do not have a significant edge over the white sox. but, as much as i like guillen's overall attitude, i think he will be out-managed. and i will always go against the team with carl everett. there can't be a much bigger negative influence in the clubhouse.

anyways... gl to you. i never like being on the opposite side on any wager.

by no means is that an 'i told you so', because i respect every single one of the posters who take the time to offer cogent opinions.

but for those who said scioscia vs. guillen was a mismatch, this series proved otherwise. lots of questionable moves made by scioscia especially in the elimination game. shields threw 15 pitches, yet wasnt capable of giving the halos more than one inning? very puzzling. and leaving rodriguez out there for the 9th, when the guy is clearly frustrated and going out there with gas can in hand, was a terrible move that sucked the life out of an potential angels rally in the bottom of the 9th.

white sox didnt do anything differently than theyve done all year. they were loose, and their play showed just that. guillen might not be "by the book" but he gets the most out of his players, and id sure as hell love to have him managing the indians.

not sure if the white sox can win it all, and im not in a hurry to play them for the world series, but they deserve to be representing the AL without question.

I was with you the whole time GMan. Last night won me some serious cash as I played the Sox ML/Run Line/-2.5 Run Line/Over 7.5 and Parlayed the Sox and the over. Not to mention my futures bet (from April) on the Sox to win the AL Pennant came through as well. My account is looking awefully pretty today!

What a sweep that was for me!
