write up by Al Guar.../copyright 10/12/2005 :)

Andy Pettitte 18-9....2.43 era
Chris Carpenter 22-5...2.76 era

Last 3...

Pettitte 1-0...2.25 era...whip 0.65
Carpenter 1-1...7.27 era...whip 1.79

Pettitte on the road...8-5...2.77 era
Carpenter at home...10-4...2.65 era

Both pitchers have pitched excellent against the opponent this season...

Pettitte...pitched 3 games...going 20 innings...13 hits and only 3 earned runs

Carpenter...faced the Astros 5 times...going 4-1 with 2 shutouts

Pettitte has not allowed more then 3 earned runs in his last 10 games.

While Carpenter had a nice game against the Padres, going 6 innings...no runs
But his last 4 starts of the season he gave up 5,9,4 and 4 earned runs respectively.

This series is a repeat of last years nlcs won by the cardinals...last season Pettitte was not with the team due to a elbow injury.

The league is hitting only .230 against Pettitte this season

Leftys .200
rightys .239

Out of his 33 starts all but 4 were quality starts this season.

Pettitte is 6-1 all time in league championship series

14-8 over all in post season

I do love the Astros to get to the big dance and i think it starts with a win tonight on the road with Mr.October the southpaw Andy Pettitte pitching a gem.

I am going to take a shot with this prop...

Some might think i am crazy...but

Berkman is 12-38 against the Cards this season with 4 HRS. and 8 Ribbies.
He is also 4-15 against Carpenter with 3 homers this season.

Pujois is 2-12 against Pettitte... He still had a solid year against the Astros overall... but i would not be surprised if Pujois gets the intentional pass tonight on a couple of occasions.I think Pettitte is too smart to let Pujois beat him in a big game.

WINNER
