after months and months of back-n-forth, back-n-forth about southern cal, id like to think we can all agree on two things now:

1) southern cal is the #1 team in the country until proven otherwise. the way they handled the 3rd/20 situation and the entire final drive for that matter was very very impressive

2) they are nowhere near the greatest team of all time, nor do they deserve to be mentioned in the same breath with the greatest of all time. they are very beatable, just like every team in college football this year.

southern cal deserves major credit for coming back in the final minute. to discredit their final drive would be stupid. notre dame didnt get screwed. usc earned the win. but enough with the g.o.a.t talk

So. Cal
sc is the best team in the country....anybody else would have lost in south bend today with the energy, emotion and the way nd played........i can honestly say that nd is a top 5-6 team as well but with 2 losses they wont stay there.

I agree with both points. My only complaint is the ball was spotted wrong but at worst they could have still scored a td or tied it with a FG.

they definitely aren't the greatest ever. but they are the best team of this young century.

even though they aren't the greatest ever they still would beat any of the old teams one considers in that category just becuase atheletes are much bigger and stronger than those in the past and the game is more complicated; ie offensive defensive schemes are better.

usc ain't losing its number one ranking. they definitely got a scare, but i'm torn because i can't think of one other team in the country that would have won today in that situation. there aren't any. nobody has the speed to put them in that situation of the long pass play at the end.

not the best ever, but the best lately.

i hope UCLA shoves it up their azz

Agree on both points. There defense is very suspect. They can be beaten you just have to outscore them in a shootout. Defense is average imo.

Good point. How many "gut checks" does this USC Team (read "Offense") have in the bag?

soul:

your posts get more ridiculous by the day. when did you become such a putz. you used to make such sharp posts.

apparently you must have missed my posts within the last few weeks talking about how leinart is one of the most overrated quarterbacks in the nation. everyone will talk about his 4th down conversion but the fact is that was even a terrible pass. very underthrown and not in the right spot, just got very fortunate that his receiver (jarrett?) made a great play.

thanks bryanz. btw- i know where you were coming from as far as hoke being a new coach there, so past results/history can get thrown out the window. but the play was based just as much around toledo's tendency to run the ball and ball states hangover from the 5OT game. they (bsu) just didnt have anything in the tank today. respect your viewpoint for sure - just saw that one a lot differently

gotta admit Notre Dame played an awesome game. i was rooting for them. If USC had agreed to use Instant Replay the Trojans might have had to play it from the 3 yard line on that last play.

but a great game to watch..

Who was last ? was it California?

hmmmmm.....

they won by as mnay v ND at the same site as Michigan State did....and we now know alot about Michigan State

on paper they are better than anybody, but the excuse making for every bad half or close call is getting ridiculous. if a Texas or a Va Tech has games like USC has had it is "proof: they arent as good as advertized. people are calloing out UT for only beating OU by 33 for chrissakes....

like I said - they are the best -but they havent shown it yet dont get pernalized
