i think that youll start seeing a few more 3-0 comebacks now that the red sox have proven that its possible. a lot of the 3-0 hurdle is psychological. not to be cliche-ish, but if they take one game at a time, they could do it, given the talent they've got.

They sure have it easier than Boston did last year.........1 road gm with your CY candidate pitching then 2 at home........but the Red Sox didnt have to face the pitching the Cards must beat........

i dont follow baseball like i used to but even larussa said on espn a couple nites ago the heart of order was injured, couldnt take good cuts etc ...

not sure if they are mended, but losing rolen and big guns chipped up some (plus fact they were joke in basically last 47 games of year, a couple games over .500) shouldnt be such a huge shock if the heavy faves tube ..

can they win 3 straight? sure, but they only needed 1 vs braves about 10 years ago for WS and got shellacked about 33-2 in final three ... never forget telling my GF when I was still a borderline fan the cards had no shot up 3-1 with smoltzy, maddux and glavine--lights out ... looks like HOU has some similar hurlers on deck ...

Im kinda shocked people remain loyal to these greedy bastards, pay $100 for 2 seats parking and crap food and watch them trot out garbage like the Ms do, then sprinkle FA HOFs all over the league ... I absolutely refuse to $$$ support pro sports anymore and havent for years ... I can understand kids being enamoured with going to games but to shell out ridiculous prices and watch owners toy with fans is tantamount to bending over for a sandstone sharpened rhino ...

hehe, jeesh I was kinda bitter there ;)

The tide has turned. No longer does STL dominate HOU at Busch, as HOU has taken 3 of the last 4 there. The injuries to Reyes, Rolen, Walker, Sanders, and Nunez only further complicate the rather tall task at hand.

Houston closes out the Birds tonight as Andy Pettitte returns to the form he showed all year. Getting hit by a batted ball in BP before last start caused the unusual poor outing, and Carpenter was let off the hook by impatient Astro hitters.

Besides, the Astros are the more confident team right now, and catching all of the breaks. It is a game of inches, and when the ball bounces your way, you have to take advantage, like all the good teams do.

Anything is possible...lol.But it will be an uphill

battle trying to beat...Pettitte...Oswalt & Clemens

in succession.I would be surprised if the Astros

are not representing the national league Saturday night

in Chicago.

Pt1gard isn't it great knowing you don't help perpetuate the greed.

I have not bought a ticket or licensed product for any pro sports team since 1983. I believe the highest paid athlete was getting $800,000 then.

I'm getting the last laugh at those that ribbed me for many years.

In a way it's sad, BetterUp, b/c some of my fondest memories was getting on a bus with my two lil bros for 25 cents each way and buying a Sonic ticket for $1.25 and watching West, Big O, Tiny, Clyde, Wilt, Bing, Pistol, Barry, Unseld, The Hawk, et. al, when we were still getting all our sports knowledge off the back of cards and Sporting News. To think about it in the avaricious manner it has currently manifested definitely stole the innocence that made three young boys tingle with excitement as we burst into the Coliseum for warmups and the chance of finding a stray program and maybe shouting one of our heroes names and having him actually wave back or say 'Hi, kids."

If they can win 3 in a row......then the +830 World Series price is the way to go. They will have all kinds of momentum (like Boston last year).

Just a thought.

I hope neither of you two guys have ever shopped at WalMart (i know I havnen't). Greed and corporate machinations are everywhere... can't let it stop you experiencing from the things you enjoy.

It's true, sports cost a lot of money, but so does going to a movie or concert or play these days. I mean what entertainment venue doesn't seem pricey compared to what you paid as a kid??

And this $100 stuff? I go to about a dozen SF Giants game a year, and never come close to spending that much. Take public transportation and bring a snack. Go to a sporting event with a friend to have fun and watch the a beautiful sport and talented athletes. I am sure you can briefly just enjoy a fun moment in life without letting the reality of economics ruin everything!!

Certainly doesn't seem anything to get bitter or one-sided over.

Sorry for the random rant, but I just see things a different way.

I undestand your point, sure you can go to game less than $100 etc--my pt. is im shocked people dont mind tossing around $400 to $5000 for games, its boggling, and trust me some can barely afford it that I know ... and my moreover point is FA ruined the reason you rooted for certain teams: you got to know these guys and stayed loyal to them as they did to you ... arod, RJ, griffey, etc etc ... fly the coup like anyone would for big $$$ (Gwynn never did) but i dont recall it that way as a kid, maybe you are from a diff. era which i totally understand and U wouldnt see loyalty and bonding with your home team or fave team as mattering as much as the games and a LOGO ... but that was shattered for me long ago and I could care less who wins in pro sports as long a Kobe fails hehe ...

PT1,I'm from the era you are speaking of and I remember that tingle.Going to the Memorial Coliseum see Walton, The Big "O" and Kareem (still Lew Alcindor back then),Earl the Pearl, etc. for about $8.My aunt lived on Queen Anne right behind the post office, so we would walk over to the center and catch a game when we were up to visit. While I share your sentiments that the greed, the chest thumping and 'look at me' is tiring I still hold hope that there are some kids out there who still get that same tingle...albeit for a way higher price!
