Summer of '69 is my favorite

There's a lot of funny stuff in this forum, but it's not often I truly laugh outloud like I did at this one.

When he was supporting the gold album, he left the stage after 2 songs when some people in the back of the theatre wouldn't stop requesting "Summer of '69." Liked the first two albums a lot, but couldn't stand the Vol I / Vol II album, but since it comes recommended, I'll put the new one on the list.

No, Ian, you are from from a square, mate...LOL

I, too, disliked Vols I and II, and have not yet picked up a copy of Jacksonville City nites, but plan on doing so soon...

BBC--

I heard about that show you are talking about. It was at the Vic or the Double Door in Chicago, right? Sounds as if the guy can be a real pain in the ass at times...

I know the show was in the midwest, I'm not sure if it was Chicago. That's the thing about liking the whiney guy pop genre, you have to deal with a lot of whiney guys.

Saw Michael McDermott who was from Chicago and had a modest hit in the late 80's called "The Wall". He comes to the Double Door for a homecoming show when "The Wall" was moving up the charts and then plays the first show, but doesn't play the hit song. Next day gets panned by the Sun Times for not playing it. So he comes out the next night to the show that I saw and played the song 13 straight times (didn't change a chord or an inflection) and left the stage. Never had another record reach gold. Now he was definitely a pain in the ass.
