Anyone that follows the Lions know if Garcia will be the starter against Cleveland? Also, what happened to the QB they had for a few years from Rutgers, I think his name was McMahon?

Garcia is back from his injury...he won`t start..but
look for Mooch to hook Joey in a N.Y. minute if
he is playing like crap.McMahon is with the Eagles.

Jeff Garcia Waiting In The Wings

And finally, if you're looking to get an early jump on the free agent
pickups, keep an eye on Jeff Garcia. He says he's not near 100% but
he's been cleared to practice and the QB seat in Detroit is getting
very hot.

Coach Steve Mariucci sounded very shaky at his Monday news conference
saying, "Today, he (Harrington) is our starter for Sunday." The key word obviously
in that phrase is "Today."

According to Detroit Free Press writer Nicholas Cotsonika, when
Mariucci was asked if Garcia would start if healthy, Mariucci said:
"It would depend on the decision that we make. How much practice did
he get? How's Joey doing? All those other things. Too early to say."

Garcia is not the player he was several years ago and certainly the
injury hasn't helped any. But he stll might be a viable QB in the
future for some of you guys in a pinch. Sure, it's speculation but
sometimes a roster move based on a hunch is the one that pays off.

i am a local, and everything i read states that mooch would make a change if he had any viable options...garcia is just back to practice, and orlovsky is too green still

...i think harrington will play the whole game unless they get blown out, then orlovsky might get some time...don't think we'll see garcia just yet, but maybe next week.

Problem is Garcia sucks too. Division is so bad, they will be in it throughout the year - otherwise I'd say give Orlovsky the job.

Really must be frustrating for Lions fans - the door has never been more wide open for them to win a division and make an impact in the playoffs. Harrington should have been hitting stride by now - but he's obviously a bust.

Garcia is just as bad as Joey Harrington, if not, worse!

I think the problem with Detroit is the coaching and game strategy. They don't throw the ball deep and spread it out enough. Always these short dunk passes.. 4 yards passes just wont cut it in the NFL. They are the team with the lowest percentage over the last 4 years of attemtping and completely passes over 15 yards..

DETROIT.. sucks.. :mj14:

Garcia will start, they are shooting him up right now. If this was a horse race the Vet would lose his license. Serious.

I actually drafted Garcia in my fantasy league. Didn't draft him high, but toward the end, thinking he would eventually start. Then he broke his leg so I dropped him.
I don't think he's great, but he's solid, and with all those weapons they have at receiver and the fact that he knows Mariucci's system very well, I think Garcia can put up some nice numbers. It may take a couple weeks to get in the groove.
