Purdue

Purdue

Becareful that QB was terrible Purdue clearly outplayed Wisconsin but 2 interception returns for td's and he missed any easy td pass. After that they seemed to give up. The Big Ten is downright awful this year. Michigans defense is mediocre at best if the Iowa receivers would not have dropped so many passes they would have won easily. Lloyd Carr should be fired. Save your money for the following week. Penn State will destroy Wisconsin as this team has had many injuries on the defensive line and Stocco is not very good. They were lucky to beat Minnesota and Purdue. Michigan State gave up on Saturday as they turned the ball over and could not stop Northwestern. Illinois may be the worst Big Ten team I have seen in years. That said Wisconsin will probably look ahead. Best game to bet on in the Big Ten is the under with Penn State and Purdue especially if they keep with the young kid at quarterback. Best bet any game is taking Southern Miss. NC State really having trouble putting points on the board. GLTA

Would stay away from South Carolina +14. That same number looked great when they went to Auburn and lost by 42.

SC just lost their best offensive player for the season and is coming off of a tough game at home against Vandy. SC has had problems(understatement) against the running game all season long and the running game is the strength of UT. That 14.5 looks to trap some foolish bettors.

If the 14.5 line was there to trap "some foolish bettors", then why is it @ 13.5 on Monday evening-- well before most got a chance to bite???

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
The games I circled on strong first and second impressions:

Indiana(+19)
Tennessee(-14)

UCLA(-7')
TCU(-6')
Iowa State(+10)
Fresno State(-12)
Ohio(-4)

Georgia(+5')

My research should have me feeling good about more than a few of those possibilities.

I wonder just how motivated will the Vols be the rest of the season? I also wonder just how much the flip flopping of the QB's has divided the team? The latest bowl projections have the Vols going to a minor bowl to play Nebraska which would be a major letdown for a team that some thought had a good shot at a top 5 national finish. On paper the Vols are head and shoulders above a depleted Cocks team but I am hesitant to back a team where we have to wonder just where their mental frame of mind is at the moment. I am sure some of the Vol fans could enlighten us with their thoughts on the state of the Vols! I also see that Riggs may be out for the Vols which is a another blow!

lostinamerica,

Like you, I sure am tempted to make a wager on Ohio -3' over BUFFALO. I can come up with several reasons why I should. One being that last year, Ohio -13, spanked the traveling Buffs 34-0. Another being that Buffalo, despite being winless SU, has covered their last five against the number.

Ohio is coming off a solid win/cover at home over Ball State. The operative word in the last sentence was "home". Because on the road, Ohio leaves a lot to be desired. Four opportunities on the road, four no covers and three of them by more than +7 ATS. Buffalo, otoh, has had three opportunities at home and covered each and every time.

In their defense, Ohio has faced the more difficult competition and that's something to consider.

But on the other hand, in Buffalo's last four games, they have gradually improved their ATS margin of cover, +1 / +2' / +6 / +7'.

I'm backing off but will pay close attention to this outcome.

Good luck.

I played UNM -4.5 big when it came out. CSU has a very hard time stopping the run and it looks the lobos stud running back is at full speed. CSU was lucky to win each of their last two games.

Amato said today Marcus Stone will start at QB and should play the bulk of the game vs. So. Miss. He compared Stone to John Elway which is laughable. He also kept smirking and saying "we'll see.." as in State fans have what they want and now "we'll see".. who is right and who is wrong. Stone is gifted no doubt but hasn't shown he has the smarts and decision making ability to play division one QB. I really think the Pack could be in trouble.. they don't have a player the coach thinks they can win with.

To me the OU/Nebraska total of 40 seems awfully low doesn't it?? Also don't understand why Florida is favored over Georgia .... is Shockley going to play or not?? Good luck all and thanks for the early thoughts.

shockley is out for this game, and probable for the auburn game in 2 weeks.

as for florida being favored, this has been one of the most lopsided rivalries in college football. coaches have changed, but betting on florida in this game, especially when spurrier was there, was like free money. i think even zook continued the gator dominance in this game as well. gators off a bye too.

I know you are probably tracking this Gman so I thought I would ask here (saw you post): Does anyone know the status of Jacobs for the game this weekend? Line is down to 13.5 tonight and figured it was off some news that he wasn't playing??

Thanks

Master Capper,

Couple of things:

I will be going to the UT/So. Car. game on Sat. nite and would avoid this game like the plague. Too many other games out there. I don't see how UT could lay DD to anyone and in the reference to Auburn, UT is not Auburn. There is trouble in Knoxville as I have a strong feeling that Sanders will finally get fired. Perhaps Volfan could enlighten us a little more.
The only reason that UT might come together is because it is Spurrier and you know the history there.

In regards to you liking Buffalo on Sat. If you like the Bulls to cover, would the under not be a gold? Both defenses are fairly solid. I am waiting for GMan to give us a little more insight.

Skipper,

I agree with you and am passing on the Vols games unless some new info develops.

Spalding,

Jacobs is listed as questionable for the Akron game with a sep shoulder according to the school paper. I think it would be alot to expect him to play this week with the injury especially at the QB position as he would be exposed to further injury. Akron is in a downward spiral on the offensive side so this may be a game to pass.
