Sharps still waiting on big MNF spread
With just eight hours to go before game time, sharps bettors still hadn?t weighed in on tonight?s Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers contest.
The line opened with the Steelers as 8 ?-point favorites and has since be wager up to ?11 ? at most books and as high as ?12 ? at a handful of others. However, public action accounts for almost all of that movement.
?We?ve been getting a lot of public money on the Steelers,? says Marco, a Bodog.com spokesman who prefers not to give his last name. ?Obviously, there?s the injures [to Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Ed Reed], and on top of that all the Steelers receivers are all healthy. We?re expecting even more money on the Steelers [before game time].?
Sharp bettors normally don?t play heavy favorites, especially when the line gets to be as bloated by public money as Pittsburgh?s is. Marco anticipates the wise guys laying down on the Ravens if they choose to play at all, but believes they may be waiting for the odds to move even further towards Pittsburgh.
?There?s already been very significant movement,? he says. ?Before we [move the line any further], we?re going to see how the action goes and how other books are moving their lines.?
However, even if sharp bettors do starting pounding Baltimore, it?s unlikely there?ll be any southward movement on these odds.
?I just really don?t see that happening,? says Marco. ?There?s just so much public money coming in on the Steelers.?
Books have the total on tonight`s game at 34.
