I'm with the conservative mindset on the eminent domain ruling. It went against everything I learned in getting my city and regional planning degree. It made no sense. FORTUNATELY - I think it will remain an isolated case. The country is so overwhelmingly against it I don't think it will become any kind of standard for the country.

If that's how the liberal judges rule, then bring in conservatives. I could care less about Roe v Wade or Ten Commandments at courthouses. But I do care about unfair land ownership cases.

"the bunker"
judicial activism is the elite`s on the courts imposing their own particular cultural bias on issues....like abortion....should be a states` rights issue.....imo..

decided state by state...not by a group of ivy leaguer`s who sit in their ivory towers and impose their will on the people....

they are just umpires....on things constitutional...

and actually,i believe in roe v wade...with some stipulations...that`s the crux of this fight,really...

i think it`s funny though...that a child can get an abortion without parental consent...yet,can`t go on a school field trip without same consent....

who here would feel comfortable having their young daughter get an abortion without their being aware of the situation?

that`s downright silly...

along with the fact that a husband has no say in a wife`s decision to abort....the husband has no say...or the boyfriend....whomever....but,if the woman decides she wants the baby, the man is forced to support the child for 18 years.....

wtf?.....

i believe that the "parents" should have the right to decide...within a reasonable time frame....

i don`t believe that the supreme court has the right to decide for all....

this fight is the last bastion for democrats..actually,for the extreme left...liberals..the aclu and the like.....and they know it....if they lose control of the courts....the supremes.....which they basically have now...what do they have left?....

no more ridiculous suits against the boyscouts...christmas...no more fights to remove holidays...no more fights for the rights of pedophiles(nambla)....

i`m not particularly religious....but i`ll be glad that they won`t be able to europian-ize this country into some kind of secular, androgynous mess...with no values...

it`s worked pretty well for 200+ years....

i also would like to add that this thing can`t do a 180 in the direction of religious zealotry.....in the direction of the radical religious right and these moronic television evangelists that have turned any reasonable faith based observance or belief into a caricature of what it really is....the randall terry`s....the falwell`s.... those that covertly support the crazies that target obstetricians that legally offer family planning and abortion services....

they are just as bad...just as extreme as the secularists....

and the eminent domain thing...i can`t make up my mind whether it represents socialism....or capitalism, greed and cronyism run amuck.....

..it just seems wrong...the way it`s represented...the worst of both worlds...

"Back to the (sorta) subject. That eminent domain ruling was horseshit no matter who voted how. It's totally baffling how all the left leaning justices voted for that crap."

Because they lie threw their teeth to get you to vote for them and once their in this is a very typical Ideal for a Liberal in power .

At least you admit you have been had by those of supposedly like mind . I tip my hat to you for that ....Hope all is well for you and yours !

I don't think i've 'been had' by anybody. I didn't vote for any of these judges and the swing vote (Kennedy) was appointed by a republican. This is just one 'situation' of thousands that happen in this country and I judge each one on it's own merit without regard to political slant. On this one, the supreme court blew it.

Every now and then I agree with most or all of one of your posts and this is one of them. Good work, GW. Please try not to relapse.
