Who said anything about 'cooked info?' Not me. It's certainly possible, but who knows? I think that they probably used info that fit their agenda and disregarded info that refuted it. I believe that there is plenty of evidence of reports from our intelligence communities that did not support what they put out. If you really need me to cite these reports, let me know, but i'm pretty sure you've seen them.
So, is that 'cooking info?' Not really, I suppose. They did use info that they received and probably didn't alter it. However, they turned a blind eye to anything that disagreed with the info that they 'wanted' and needed.
That said, Cheney and Rice clearly and explicitly tried to tie Iraq to 9/11. Again, if you really need me to find this let me know. Bush also tried to tell us that some broken down balsa wood plane was a drone that was capable of delivering a 'mushroom cloud' to our shores. In addition, George Tenet, on information independant of Joe Wilson, told W that the document he was relying on was probably a fake. W still used it in his State of the Union address. So is that cooked info? I guess it's a matter of semantics.
Also, Valerie Plame did not 'send' Wilson to Niger. Please stop saying that. She did not have the authority to send anybody anywhere. The CIA brass sent him and everybody at the Pentagon and State department ignored his findings since they didn't fit around what they were looking for.
It's amazing. We continue to bash Joe Wilson, the UN inspectors, etc...while we ignore that they were right. I guess that doesn't matter to some. We'll just argue about whether Valerie Plame was covert/overt/pervert, we'll just argue about Joe Wilsons political bent and ignore the misleading and false reasons that were fed to us about invading/occupying/rebuilding Iraq. Semantics I guess.
We now know, and some may have known back then, that Saddam has had no, none, zero WMD programs since 1991. Yes, he WANTED to revive it, but it was not possible under those circumstances. So France and whoever else greasing Saddams palm had no effect on his ability to even start a program. He built palaces and was a ruthless dictator. Who gives a f*ck?
After 9/11, it seems counter-productive to get into some ridiculous nation-building project with a country that has not ever taken a single american life. Well, I guess about 2000 of them now, but you know what I mean.
So i'll ask again, how exactly would you have this administration 'defend themselves?'
