So Miss (-7) over Marshall
So Miss is a better team than Marshall both have played some tough teams but So Miss faired better (compared to Marshall getting crushed). The common opponent is UAB and So. Miss was the better team against them. Eagles running game rushing for only 104.4 yards per game, 10th in C-USA. Marshall will need a big game from their defense giving up 332 total yards per game, second in C-USA, and 141.6 rushing yards per game, third in C-USA. The Herd is also third in the conference with 18 sacks. The Herd scores just 18.5 points per game, 11th in C-USA BUT Southern Miss leads C-USA with a plus-12 turnover margin due mostly to a conference-high 23 takeaways. Both teams have solid defenses but IMO So. Miss has more talent on offense and it should come out in this game. They have senior leadership in Almond at QB. So. Miss has been bothered by the injury bug but most of the starters should be up and ready to go tonight. The 4th Quarter will be big tonight as the golden eagles have been outscored 59-29, while the Herd have out scored 55-19. Hopefully it doesn't get down to the 4th. Expect big plays from Almond running and throwing and look for a few turn overs from Marshalls QB. Not only is there a controversy but both have shown the ability to throw picks and stall drives. The defense of So Miss has to step up on this national stage and muscle past marshall.
