I was @ KU game last Sat. This defense is no joke. However, the offense is. With that said, I think this defense is top 5 in D1 and getting 34 points? I also attended the Texas/KU game last year when KU got screwed by an incompetent side judge with about 2 minutes left giving TX the ball back on what should have been a game ending 1st down (offensive pass interference.)

Someone commented in an earlier thread that TX had revenge (Sun Tzu). Are you kidding me? Revenge because the game was close? Kansas was completely stiffed and has about the most payback a team could possibly ever have

Can they win this SU? Hell no- their offense is horrible, but their defense will keep them in this game.

Big Play on KU +34. 3x

This # is too high w/that defense and payback factor.

10-4 YTD

I was considering KU +the points too until I heard that Vince Young is really pissed off at the KU team and Mangino. He is reminding the UT team all week how Mangino and the players dissed Texas after last year's game in which the Horns pulled out a squeaker in Lawrence. The KU players and Mangino were saying that they outplayed and outcoached Texas and that the only reason they lost was because of the money Texas would generate in the BCS if they won and continued to roll towards the BCS game.

This still doesn't sit well with Mack Brown, VY, and the rest of the UT team. I'd reconsider that KU play if I were you. If you back this Texas team into a corner with VY as the leader, look out because it will be lights out for KU!

I'm not Texas will score 34 points against Kansas no matter how mad they are. That Kansas defense is excellent against the run. Young will have to throw alot to beat them that bad.

"if you back this team into a corner" --what corner are the exactly in????

people have been saying for years how outcoached Mack has been in various games....he finally now has a QB who can do things on his own and win on his own

Last year Texas WAS outplayed and definitely outcoached

This year they will be outcoached but will outplay Kansas

Kansas should have enough to cover

KU is well aware of Vince Young's perspective on Mangino's post game comments last year. It has been all over talk radio in KC. That is just another slap in the face. If you saw the game last year you know KU got screwed- period. Mr. Young would be better off keeping his mouth shut. Mack Brown has also advised his players to tape up ankles & knees a little tighter because "Kansas likes to throw cheap cut blocks." Well you can be sure of that now.

The only way Texas covers is if the KU offense turns the ball over giving Horns a short field several times. This will be the best defense they have played all year. I'm sure the majority of you have not seen them play-this will be their first real TV game focus on:

#7 Nick Reid LB
#5 Banks Floodman LB
#45 Kevin Kane LB
#99 Charlton Keith DE
#3 Charles Gordon CB/WR

FYI- I am a U of AZ grad. No homer

I have not seen Kansas play once this year - so I admit my ignorance of this team. But:

1) They travel to Austin.
2) They are 0-3 on the road.
3) Last time they went on the road was only a few weeks ago and Colorado blasted them 44-13.
4) They have compiled nice stats against a schedule of stiffs - with the exception of Texas Tech & Colorado who both did not have much trouble scoring on them judging by the final scores.
5) Mack does not usually have any qualms about laying it on when they get up - esp. given the bad blood.

Am I missing something? - not a rhetorical question.

Dr. Fade- your nutz here. Kansas, give me a break. Texas is at home here. Blowout! Maybe if Kansas were at home they could just hang on to almost beat the spread. Texas at home is unstoppable plain and simple. With all that said you did make me at least stop and think about this game for a minute but I just can't see Kansas hanging around. Texas has covered every single game at home this season. Kansas allows on the road an average 289 yards 28.7 points a game. Their offense on the road only scores about 11 points a game and their yards per play is a dismal 3.9. Now Texas at home scores about 51.2 points a game and gaining 500 yards of offense at with a yard per play of 7.3. Now Texas' defense at has only allowed an average of 11.7 points a game at home and holding opposing teams rushing to an average of 81 yards while Kansas on the road on average only rushes for 96 yards a game. Basically God help Kansas because this will be a slaughter!

like your passion however Kansas by far is not the best defense they have faced all year; I think that Kansas has an outstanding defense but not nearly as good as OHIO State and that game was at the horseshoe. Are you saying Kansas defense will play better AT TEXAS than Ohio State plays at home?? Kansas is really good at stopping the run however when you handicap this game there are a few things you need to look at. Remember OU completely show down Kansas AT Kansas. They were lucky to get 3 points in the game. Kansas State shut down Kansas and you have seen what Kstate has done this year. Kansas offense is ANEMIC and will be lucky and i say lucky to get even a field goal. THis is BY FAR the best offense and defense they have faced all year. Remember Colorado blew out Kansas at CO by over 29 points and remember how bad Texas beat CO; they made them look like a high school team. Also if you have followed Texas this year they keep their starters in until the end of the 3rd quarter. Just look at Texas last week against Baylor; Vince Young was in the game up 48-0. They will not let up in this game. I agree the spread is high but when you factor the game is AT TEXAS, AT NIGHT and Kansas has no offense and the defense will be on the field the ENTIRE GAME. This game will be a blowout no matter how you slice it. How is Kansas going to put points on the board. They couldnt score against Tech, OU, Kansas State or Colorado and now they go on the road to play a Texas team on a mission. Good luck on your play was just giving some insight; good luck on your play no matter what.

Couple of points to clarify from bbk's post, 1) Oklahoma/KU game earlier this year was at Arrowhead stadium in Kansas City and then QB Brian Luke was pathetic in that game, since Jason Swanson took over at the helm Kansas offense has been decent but you're right they will struggle to score against athletic Texas defense .... 2) also the game this Saturday is at 2:30 and not a night game .... if Kansas can put up 10-14 points they will cover the 34 point spread IMO, that is the big question here can they do that??

Buckeye Defense is probably better than KU- slightly- I digress there. NO WAY is OU D better than KU. We will see come Sat. That is what I said about the Canes last week & AZ, & NC ST. They will cover the 34.

The CU score is very misleading. Fake FG. Punt return etc. This game was 17-14 going into the 4th.

I'll go ahead and post my plays here:

11-6 YTD
+11.4 Units

Baylor +8

This Mizzou team has no heart/no coach

KU + 34 x 3*

Top 5 defense will cover this huge #. Enough said on this above.

Michigan St. +5.5

Glen Mason late season fold job initiated.

Washington + 13

OK, I expoesd myseld as a UofA alum. AZ is on a roll, but laying 13 in a PAC 10 game? Geez, we finally got our first win 2 weeks ago now we are laying 13? AZ wins by 4-7 pts.

GA -3

Florida St -2

Florida -3.5

These last 3 fall into the category of teams that do not lose very often and only am required to lay minimal pts. 2 out of 3 of these will win- maybe all 3.
