One question I have is did Bill actually serve in the armed forces? If so, then he would have a right to bitch but if he was another Republican that had better things to do then he should just sit this one out and stop attacking. Got to love the quote comparing Bill to the Dopeman Limbaugh!

Does Bill O'Reilly have it in for the city by the bay?

San Franciscans have been in an uproar this week over apparent comments by the host of Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" that it was A-OK for terrorists to wipe the city off the map.

At issue are comments from O'Reilly's Election Day broadcast on his syndicated Westwood One radio show about a San Francisco ballot measure opposing the presence of military recruiters in city schools.

"Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead," O'Reilly said, according to a transcript and audio posted by liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America, and by the San Francisco Chronicle.

"And if al-Qaida comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead," O'Reilly continued, referring to the 1933 San Francisco landmark that sits atop Telegraph Hill.

Adding to the buzz was the archived version of O'Reilly's Tuesday show, which omitted the incendiary comments, according to Bay Area TV station KNTV.

City officials were not amused. "It sounds like he's on the same medication Rush Limbaugh is addicted to, and he should go see a therapist,'' Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin, whose district includes the tower, told the Chronicle.

Neither O'Reilly nor Fox News have yet commented on the dust-up.

'The big digit to the military'?
As for the ballot measure, which urged local high schools and colleges to bar military recruiters from their campuses, it passed with 60 percent of San Franciscans in favor of it.

The radio show was not O'Reilly's sole comments on the vote. On his Monday night "O'Reilly Factor," he tangled with Angela Alioto, the former president of the city's Board of Supervisors.

"Why should the rest of the country protect your butt, with all due respect, OK, when it comes to the war on terror, if San Francisco is going to thumb your nose and give the big digit to the military? Why should ... why should we protect you from al-Qaida and terrorists if you're going to disrespect the military, by passing this ... even though it's symbolic ... this resolution?" he asked Alioto.

Alioto briefly tripped up O'Reilly during her appearance, pointing out that he had conflated the military-recruitment measure with another measure to ban handguns. That measure also passed, 58 percent to 42 percent.

I don't understand, Bill. You always stress the importance of parents raising kids. It's not the job of schools to raise childrent and teens - it's the job of their parents. So why should he give a f%$k whether or not high schools recruit for the milkitary.

In fact - if Bill wants to be consistent in his preachings, I would think he would be against military recruitment at the high school level anyway.

Your not kidding about the publicity! The San Francisco Chronicle featured the story basically as its lead story on the cover this morning.

I voted against the gun ban here in SF, but I am sure most San Franciscans view IT as good publicity too!

There must be no interesting, informative or important news to write about economics, warfare, science, technology et al

Yep interesting SF concern for gun ban with 88 deaths reported by guns in 2004--yet they have about 1/4 of all CA HIV cases 27,000+ and who knows how many deaths.

from LA

Planned Protest

When hundreds of Los Angeles high school students told administrators they planned to walk out of school to attend last week's protest by the liberal "World Can't Wait" group calling for President Bush's impeachment ? the L.A. school district decided not to discipline them. Instead, the district provided school buses and a staff escort to transport some 800 students from 10 schools to the rally and back. School officials said students would attend the protest with or without their permission, and the district's chief operating officer told KNBC, "Our issue...was safety, and I think we fulfilled our mission."

--Might be a few CA cities have an agenda--ya think :)

Well they considered voting to ban HIV, but doctors reported at the last minute, that it wouldn't work.

In any case, after a lawsuit or two I am sure this ban will blow over, or at least be entirely ignored by those who own guns.

Two abusrd details in this absurd ban, is that no punishment was chosen. The penalty or fine will be decided at a later date! & it only applies to those that live within the city limits, not visitors.

ELVIS: Yes Proposition H was passed with about 58% of the vote last Tuesday. Applies only to handguns (not rifles, shotguns etc). It actually violates a California law that states municipalities cannot pass their own gun laws, so it may be subject to lawsuits.

Dirty Harry must be rollin' over in his grave. ...Not to mention Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. "Best you have a Black Russian." "I don't like white people. I hate rednecks. That's means I'm enjoyin' this sh1t". "Where's Billy-Bear?"
