Went to the Giant game yesterday. What a beautiful day and experince.
It started out with me and my 3 buddies arguing in the car over which way was faster, the thruway or Rt 17 to get there.Do we stop at White Castles,do we have time, why is the beer warm,Jets suck[we all agree on that] etc.
Now, our other buddy is meeting us in the Giant tower in his company's indoor club suite .His is the former NYC Police comish our next door neighbor, our best friend.he retired a few yrs back and is now the VP of Sercurity of a major Corporation in NYC.Once a year he gets the suite for either a Giant or jet game.We are one suite to the left of CBS and 2 over from the owners suite. We are on the 40 yd line.
We enter the tower,go up the elevator and lord and behold we enter the room.Bar,frig with beers, sodas, and a wet bar.Hot food from dogs to baked zita, wraps, roast beef, etc.
We are kings..The huge bay window are open because the weather is beautiful. There are 6 TV's in the room with other games on.
We watch the Jints warm up,Minny, etc. The pregame ceremony is great.Black hawk Heliccopters fly over...National anthem...My Jints...I'm high as a kite and had only 2 beers.
The opening kickoff...Jints recieve... FUMBLE...ahhh. But Minny misses the FG.
I have a few ***** on the game.
Cannot retell the actual game. It's to painful and right now as I type this my eyes are beggining to water up.
Giants give up a TD on a Manning interception which was the worst pass in NFL history. Then a punt return and kickoff return.I have never seen anything like that.Jint defense played great until a minut left in the game.Minny marchs down field and kicks a FG with a few seconds left.
Me and 70,000 are stunned.Manning was beyond bad.I always keep saying "he is a a puppy and will learn."Boy,he has a lot of learning to do."
But during the game the Comish is going around introducing everyone in the suite. He has a mixed crowd of people. His homeboys and golf partners.Thats us.His former police people that we know, his new company people, etc.
But to put everything in perspective we meet 5 woman. All dressed nicely and all seems to be friends. We get introduced and they seem to fit in cheering and booing throughout the game.
But very few people know that the Comish invited these woman because 3 of there husbands died in the line of duty as NYC police and the other two on 9/11.
You see the Comish every year that we go down to this suite invites different wives and there kids to the game. Also he has a limo pick them up at Police headquarters in Manhattan.
And we never knew this all these years he had been doing that ever since he joined this company.
Kinda puts everything in prespective after we found out .So what about Manning and my Giants.I'm complaining like any typical fan.But these people have had there lives changed because their husbands were hero's.
I'm proud of my boy "the comish".I'm glad he is a close and personal friend. This world needs more people like him regardless of his position and stature..These wives probaly could care less who won or lost today. For one day they were treated like royalty.
And I should get a life and stop complaining about Manning, etc.
Need to put things in perpective in our lives.yesterday was a wake up call for me...

Good luck...everyone

Box it could of been a great day if the giants had won. That was a great experience yesterday which i'm sure you enjoyed. Jints have 2 tough games coming up in the upcoming weeks. I enjoy your write-ups you're one class act

Football is Great, but your story puts everything into perspective because it's still only just a game that seems not so big compared to other things in life.
