The Detroit Pistons try to match their best start in franchise history tonight, as they visit the streaking Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Arena.
The Pistons have registered their best start since 1988-89 when they also started the season 8-0 en route to their first of three NBA Championships. Detroit's 9-0 start in 1970-71 is the best in franchise history.
Richard Hamilton had 19 points on Friday, as Detroit remained the lone unbeaten team in the NBA with a 78-70 win over the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center.
Forwards Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace both finished with 14 points in the victory over Houston for the Pistons, while Chauncey Billups contributed 13 in the win.
The Pistons return home after tonight's game to host a pair of contests. They will play the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday and the Washington Wizards on November 25.
The Mavericks are also playing well, as they will go for their fifth straight win tonight.
Dallas plays the third contest of a four-game homestand. It is 2-0 on the current stand. On Thursday, Josh Howard scored a game-high 25 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Mavericks over the Atlanta Hawks, 87-78, in front of their home crowd.
Keith Van Horn scored 14 points off the bench, while Jason Terry chipped in 12 in the victory over Atlanta for the Mavericks, who have won four straight games. Marquis Daniels had 11 points in the win.
The Mavericks, who are scheduled to host Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets in the finale of the homestand on Tuesday, are a perfect 3-0 at home this season. They defeated the Charlotte Bobcats, 98-88, in the opener of the stand.
Detroit has lost four of its last six at Dallas, which has won two of the last contests in this series.
The teams will play one more time during the 2005-06 campaign, as the Pistons will host the Mavericks on March 28th at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Pistons put there 8-0 record on the line tonight in Dallas.The Mavs are 3-0 at home and the Pistons are playing back to back.Look for them to stumble tonight and get hit with their first loss of the season.Could very well be a blowout.
