after a fast start last night late games kinda fizzled, but still managed a little profit off a 6-4 night. one earlt play:

new orleans -4: i actually played this game early this morning @ -2 for two units, but evidently so did a lot of people. i follow monte towe's team fairly closely since he's an old classmate. he's got the new orleans program righted after five years at the helm, and this year he has the core of last years team back, including bo macalebb, a preseason midmajor all-american. conversely, tulane has a new coach and is rebuilding, and currently is saddled with several key injuries. of course, both of these teams are displaced to texas, so this game won't have the home town rivalry air to it. i expect the privateers to win by dd.

back later (i hope). glta

i tell ya lowell, it's been that kind of early season for me. privateers have a superior lineup, but clearly have a depth problem that will continue to be an issue unless some younger players develop during the season. consider the following: after playing evenly in the first half, new orleans shot 28% in the second half and was outrebounded 31-14. for the game, tulane's bench outscored privateer reserves 41-4. despite all this n.o. still had the lead with four and a half minutes to play, but then was outscored 14-3 to end the game. no sense playing the privateers again until they produce some depth.

meanwhile, uncg shooters were cruising along at about a 20% clip in the first half at vandy in route to putting up a 14 point opening period.

sheeeze.
