Toronto attempts to register its first winning streak of the season and its second victory of the campaign, as the Raptors will visit the Phoenix Suns tonight at America West Arena.
This is the first of two meetings this season between the clubs. The Raptors are scheduled to host the Suns on March 31, 2006 at Air Canada Centre.
Toronto begins a a four-game road trip tonight. The Raptors will also visit the Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings and the Golden State warriors on the current swing.
The Raptors won their first game of the season on Sunday. Chris Bosh scored a season-high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Toronto over the Miami Heat, 107-94, at Air Canada Centre.
Mike James finished with 25 points in the win over the Heat for Toronto, while Jalen Rose chipped in 22 by going 11-of-13 from the charity stripe for the Raptors, who had started the campaign with a franchise-worst 0-9 record.
Toronto is 0-3 on the road this season.
The Suns come into tonight's game having lost two of three and four of their last six games overall. On Saturday, Tim Duncan scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the world champion San Antonio Spurs to a 97-91 win over Phoenix at the SBC Center. This game was a rematch of the 2005 Western Conference finals in which the Spurs won the best-of-seven series in five games.
Shawn Marion ended with 22 points and 15 boards in the loss to San Antonio for the Suns, while reigning MVP Steve Nash added 14 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists in defeat.
Phoenix is just 2-4 at America West Arena this season. The Suns are scheduled to visit the Houston Rockets on Wednesday at the Toyota Center, before returning home for a five-game homestand.
These two teams have split the last eight meetings in this series, while the Suns have won two in a row. Toronto has lost two of three and five of its last seven at Phoenix.
