good stuff lowell. normally a lot of trends are nonsense but this is one that is based on sound football principles. would presume that the record is for 2005 only? and when does it start from? meaning how far into the season did the teams have to be before the trend became "trackable"?

i am only following this from another board so i have not tracked it. the other trend is 200-79 this season and that is when you have a team that outrushes the other by 2-1 margin. this week akron and west vir were plays. it sure is something to follow, provided these numbers are right. for double digit dogs it is very simple they only need to average more yds than other team. it has helped me offset some of my dumb plays i choose. please let me know if you check the record and it is not right.

Lowell....I show Tulane NOT being a play this week. Tulane averages 80 yds per game while SMISS averages 100. Also, Virginia (+17) qualifies over Miami...does it not? Maybe I'm look'n at it wrong....thanks!

lowell:

im sure the numbers are generally correct. and the logic is very sound regardless of exact numbers. my only concern about the how precise the 56-13 is would be if there were plays in week 2 or week 3 of the season, because numbers could get skewed and a true rushing dog probably wouldnt have emerged. id be interesting in knowing what it is for, say, the last month because now we've got a whole season of data to work with. again, great stuff and appreciate your post.

Actually Tulane averages 86 rush yds per game vs. giving up 156 rush yds by their opponents for the season. If I'm correct they do not apply....I'd be very concerned putting my money on them anyway.
Virginia DOES qualify this week as they outrush their opponents 151-133.

I'm curious on teams like Rice and Air Force where they rush the ball 50 times a game and I'm sure always outrush their opponents....they must qualify everytime?

this trend is constantly highlighted by a newsletter called "the steam sheet" put out by a capper named tom scott.....it has kept the record since the beginning of the season...
