1621 Matt Leinhart (USC) -250
1622 Vince Young (Texas) +250
1623 Brady Quinn (ND) +800

for those of you who thought vince should win heisman, he's not getting much respect here either ... I thought a QB's job was to win games, like a PG ... i was kinda shocked Vince isnt even considered close to Leinhart ... Longhorn backers must love these odds :scared

i certainly dont have a list of past winners in front of me. but it seems like, fair or not, this award always seems to go to a "prototype" quarterback and someone who fits the mold as a pure passer. i know young is a better passer than people give him credit for but he is still a hybrid.

Leinart runs the USC offense "similar" to Manning and the Colts. Leinart has complete control of the game. Only difference between Manning and Leinart is Leinart starts off with the play from OC but often audibles it from there. You don't see many QB's with the smarts of Leinart. Leinarts audible in the ND game on the road with that perfect pass against almost perfect defense from Irish, he deserves the award. Oh yeah, Leinart has better stats than last year when he won the Heisman Trophy. Don't forget Leinart had to play 5 road games in USC's first 7 games of the year. BRUTAL!

Of course you can't ignore that in each and every game Leinart is facing every teams best shot! That means teams using schemes never seen on film that are specially designed for USC. In CFB, teams do not change their schemes against every opponent and/or insert new schemes. Against USC, MOST teams do! Which makes it even more difficult to gameplan against their opponent.

How many passes has Leinart thrown for 5-10 yards that his WRs or RBs have taken to the house for 40-50 yards after the catch. Leinart is Ken Dorsey from the left side. Throws it up to his superior athletes in college and lets them do the work, then in the pros he won't be able to throw a spiral for more than 15 yards if there is any sign of a breeze. He will still win the Davey O' Brien though just because he is Matt Leinart. I'm a Dolphin fan and I want to see Young running for his life behind our O line next year. :)

Just My Opinion,
B
