Sure are a lot of similarities between Phil Fulmer and Tubby Smith. Lots of vocal UT fans hate him and always have, even back around 1998. Lots of vocal UK fans hate him even though all he does is win and make the most of the talent that he has (not metioning the NCAA championship ring he owns). Tubby, however, has yet to not make the NCAA tourney. :s4: Fulmer fesses up Like either of them or not (I'm a UK fan, and I personally really like TUbby), I guess they're both here to stay. Heck, I'm glad Phil is staying. Maybe UK will finally be able to beat them again in football if he does stay a few more years. :mj07:

Fortunately for other SEC fans, Fullmer is staying. When UT was dominant under Fullmer he had an amazing staff of recruiters. That is no longer the case, and each year we are seeing less talent at UT, imo. Fullmer has always been really good at hiring good staff, and everyone has their down years. But Fullmer is not a good in-game coach. He does not have a big talent for managing a game.

Cutcliffe was hired, and he is most well-known for grooming young, talented QBs. This is getting mixed reviews from the UT faithful here, but I think it will be a good move because he knows how Fullmer operates and works well in that system.

I think it is hard to imagine that UT will stay near the bottom of the SEC for long (maybe one more year depending on QB situation). My feeling is that Fullmer has 3-4 more years before he is out.

On Tubby: UK is lucky to have him as I think he is one of the best coaches in the country (probably top 4-5). I think he runs a clean program with mostly stand-up guys. I knew we wouldn't be able to keep him long at UGA, but I am also happy with Felton that we hired from Western Kentucky. I think he has our program going in the right direction. He can recruit with the best of them with not having a big name basketball program to hang his hat on.

Off soapbox.

Dennis Felton is a very nice guy, a great coach, and a good recruiter. I was sorry we lost him, but I knew he wouldn't stay long. UGA is fortunate to have him.

Twenty years and counting Sixfive, good luck.

If UK couldn't beat UT this year, It'll be a long, long, long time before they can.

On the other hand Pearl will beat Tubby in the next couple of years.

LOL :mj07: That's what I like, a little chit talking!

PS Don't get me started on Rich Brooks. Talk about a coach who sucks!! Don't know what they expected from somebody who had a career winning percentage way less than .500 before he was even hired! :cursin: Bring back Hal Mumme!!
