Florida International +7 over MTSU: I missed the opening line of 8 but the 7 should be good enough. FIU is finishing up on a positive run while MTSU is wondering how in the hell Arkansas State is going to the New Orleans Bowl (since they beat Ark St. 45-7). I don't expect much of an effort from MTSU and FIU should be able to keep this one within a TD at home.

i actually think MTSt is a better team--have they given up or will they be mad?? Also FIU I think had 5 interceptions returned for TD's last week--don't know about this game.--GL

I agree that MTSU is probably the better team. But, I think they quit a few weeks ago when they lost to Monroe which took them out of the running for the Sun Belt title. FIU has won 3 out of their last 4 and road favorites in the Sun Belt haven't fared too well this year. All these factors make +7 a play for me.

As for the Akron game, I think it is either Akron +13 or sit it out for the side, mainly because I would be hesitant to lay double digits in a championship game. I really don't like either side.

I'm watching the total creep up to 54. If it gets to 55, I'll play the under. The first game was an anomaly and I think you will see the public hit the over hard when the recreational bettors get home from work and want a little action on the game. Wait until gametime and see what the total looks like.

Mount Union -9 over Capital: Another square play on Mount Union but I can't help it. They are definitely on a mission and playing very well right now. Capital escaped with a close win last week but won't be so fortunate this week. The first time these teams played, MU was trailing early in the 4th quarter and then exploded for three quick scores to take control. Capital should be able to hold its own for a quarter or two but the MU offense will eventually wear down the Capital defense. MU by two TD's.

Linfield +2 over Whitewater This should be quite a matchup between two offensive powerhouses. The edge goes to Linfield due to the homefield (Whitewater is traveling from Wisconsin to Oregon) and a slightly better defense. I have this one lined at Linfield -6.

Take a look at East Stroudsberg +26.5. Way too many point for a game like this. Grand Valley is tight to the vest, plays tough defense and doesn't take chances, especially when they get up. ES scores a ton of points but will have problems obviously because of GV's great defense. But when looking at all aspects, 26.5 is too many IMO because of GV's style of play. They would prefer to win 17-7 every week...that is there type of game. ES's type of game is 56-31 but there is no way in hell they break 21 in this game, once again IMO.

Good luck and I like MT Union as well!

grand valley's offense hasn't been the same since kelly left to take the central michigan job. their offensive personnel is incredible. but like you said spalding, they'd rather win with defense right now. and that defense is damn good. but kelly had those gvsu teams putting up 500-600 yards of offense and 50+ ppg. this is a different gvsu team.

I know that this may show that I have hit rock bottom when it comes to my obsession with betting on football, but....I really like Douglas County +3 over Mullen in the Colorado 5A State Championship game. Mullen has great tradition but they are young and may get manhandled in the trenches. Douglas County has a running back who has rushed for over 2600 yards and also has a QB who has thrown for 1700. Mullen relies too much on the pass their lack of balance will be the difference in the game. Their tradition and past playoff success is the only reason they are the laying points. Take Douglas County and the points.

The other game I like is Ferndale -7 over Prosser in the Washington 3A game. I think Ferdale's offense will be too much for Prosser.

Army/Navy over 50.5: Navy has displayed an ability to score all season long while Army has put up some points in their last four games. Neither team is particularly strong defensively. Weather should not be a major factor and both teams are capable of producing plays. This will be a 30-24 or 31-28 type game.

USC -20.5 over UCLA: I don't like this much chalk in a rivalry game but I don't think UCLA can hang with the Trojans the whole game. Bruin defense is not strong enough and USC will want to make a statement after Texas' showing today.
