Just opened the sports page and noticed that the Bengals doused the coach with Gatorade after beating the Steelers yesterday. I couldn't remember the last time a team did that without clinching the title or going to the Super Bowl. I don't believe in game of the years or anything but there next game has to be a flat spot. When I checked who they played I thought this is an ideal situation. A natural rival in Cleveland who is playing very well defensively getting 12 points against a poor defensive team who gave up 474 yards to Pittsburgh yesterday. Whats nice it is a revenge game and the first game was actually the opener for the Browns under Romeo Crennel before the defense was comfortable under his systems. Look for the Browns to keep it close. Glta. All comments are welcome on this big Gatorade game.

I could not agree more, and theres another great reason to play against them or on the under:the 42,42 and 38 they've rung up the last three games along with the emotional nut they spent on pittsburg put them in a bet against mode.I just wish it was anyone but Cleveland, they are terrible on the road.Thats what makes it a tasty play I guess.I'll be playing against the Bengals or against the over in this one,one or the other.GL either way

I agree about not wanting to lay double digits here with the Bengals, but be careful: Charlie Frye is making only his second career NFL start against a team that generates a TON of turnovers. Plus Cleveland will be without Edwards as well.

Bengals scoring 42,42, and 38

Bengals scoring 42,42, and 38

I know before all the rule changes when a team scored more than 30 three weeks in a row they were a good go against also. Cleveland has only lost by that number only twice the first week 27-13 to the Bengals and to Pittsburgh 34-21. First game Edwards wasn't a factor 2 catches 16 yards. Worried about the first start on the road for Frye but he was 13-20 for 226 yards against the tough Jaguar defense. Bengals did let Ravens Boller score 29 points on them. They only scored 16 against that terrible Texan defense and six came on a interception return. Keith and Elludes appreciate the info. Welcome more opinions from Madjack cappers on the Gatorade game of the year.

You asked for comments so here goes, I have the game going just the opposite calling Cincy to roll.

You may be right and I would agree under normal circumstances of your let down/rival theory, but this to me is very different.

Cincy has a different confidence than anytime before bolstered by players like Johnson the receiver and palmer, young eager out to prove the world wrong about them and along with a great HC in Lewis you can through the theory out the window.

Another big reason that Cincy should be the GOY not Cleveland is the browns are a team in disarray, Rookie QB only 2nd start no Edwards out with Knee injury. They won't be able to stay with this surging Bengal team.

That's what I think, and my $$$$ is on Cincy.

GL to you on your side.

it hasnt been easy watching clowns football since they came back in 1999.

but one thing i will say for them is that they are still playing very hard. and except for the minnesota game a week and a half ago, they have been well-prepared in pretty much every game. there are some teams in the nfl who are just mailing it in right now and, if nothing else, the clowns arent one of them.

i dont have the numbers off hand but i believe they have done very well in cincinnati in the last 4 or 5 years. i think there was a cincy rout interspersed in there somewhere but i also think the clowns have a few SU wins down there.

frye looked very good in his first nfl start and theres a good chance he will get the nod again this week even though dilfer is healthy.

as mentioned in this thread a few times, the loss of braylon edwards definitely hurts them though. he was starting to look like the best player on the field in recent weeks.

clowns have four games left, and of the four, this one definitely looks like its the most "cover-able". theyve got a road trip to oakland (cant remember the last time the browns looked good out west), and then home games against pittsburgh and baltimore. lines wont present enough value there to justify playing the clowns.

im not sure if the browns will win another game the rest of this season, but i think they make sense + the points this week.

Its in the week of preparation

Its in the week of preparation

C johnson was on the patrick show today today claiming they were going to the superbowl, talkting about meeting the Colts in the playoffs, his peanut mind is on anything but Cleveland.Thats how upsets happen, when you don't do your homework and study next weeks opponent during the week. You can't be seeing the stuff for the first time in a game or your not ready.May be easier plays this weekend, but I'll be watching this one closely.

edludes, don't know if you are a system/trend player, but here are two systems favor CLE.

1. Played against a home FAV if they won SU as a road dog the previous week.

This trend is 13-7 YTD since WK2

2. Play on any NFL away dog of at least 3.5 points when (a) the opposing team has allowed more than 20 points in their previous game and (b) the O/U line for the current game is over 42. posted by DRPZNE

This trend is 10-6 YTD

Clowns will get leveled in this matchup by 20+ points as they go on to try to win the division title. Browns on the road are a BAD ball team. Do not bet on BAD ball teams late in the season. Early in the season it makes sense, it doesn't make sense late in the season.
