Maybe we DID go to war in Iraq for the oil...

I came across an interesting report on the role the US is playing in regards to Iraq's oil present and future. For a long time now, conservatives have bristled at the thought of something as underhanded and self-serving as the Bush administration attacking Iraq for the oil. In fact, when I posted a recent article about oil shortages for Iraqi's, Charles twisted my post and asked for proof that we were stealing Iraqi oil. Since my post was in reference to how "good" the situation is in Iraq for the people there, I didn't go down that road. But when I found this report this AM, I thought I would post a link to it.

I think this is a very damning report, and one that certainly should be studied. I do not know the background of the person writing it, nor about the organization we wrote it for. But it is a very thorough examination of the US role in the Iraq oil situation. One could draw some pretty negative conclusions from some of the information in it as far as the Bush administration is concerned.

I will not post the entire report here, too much stuff. But here is the link. I invite you to check it out. Draw your own conclusions, or ignore it. I found it interesting.

You want to debate us on a thread that starts out with the words "Maybe"?

Who in the name of god is going to take the time to read thru that boring link??

I've asked you many times to show proof that the U.S. is stealing Iraqi oil. PROOF. You always fail.

This is why we went to war and you know it.......

BILL CLINTON ---

"And mark my words, he will develop weapons of mass destruction. He will deploy them, and he will use them"

"The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government"

JOHN KERRY:

The threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."

HILLARY CLINTON:

"Saddam has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons"

Well, Charles, I don't generally start out threads with a comment by me and state that they are "fact", unlike you. You say that's a boring link...obviously because it's an embarrassing read for supporters of this administration. That report certainly contains plenty of solid, verifiable evidence that links this administration to American oil companies gaining Iraq oil, selling it, and making huge profits from it. Some might call that stealing.

Of course, Bush told us that Iraqi oil would pay for the war effort in Iraq. Should we have believed him? Was that a fact? Or was it a lie, and one that is looking like an unbelievably terrible one at that.

I remember him saying that during one of his 'big speeches.' Remember that one, Chucky?

Embarrassing?? Who is that guy??? Is the guy some lefty? Quoting some guy you've never heard of is embarrassing. Seriously. Why post a link that would take 2 hours to digest and expect people to debate you on a maybe?

Again....please show proof that the U.S. is stealing Iraqi oil.

That is absolutely wrong. I most certainly do not know WHY we went there. And I most certainly do not believe this administration, for obvious reasons.

And, finally, the people you quote did not send us to war. Bush did. He is the only one (other than his cronies) that really know why we are there for sure.

Funny, it didn't take me two hours to digest. It took me about 10 minutes. You must be a really slow reader. Oh wait...you won't even read it before you dismiss it. Nice work. We should believe you and George, I guess. Someone uninformed, and someone who hides intelligence.

1. Why did Clinton say that "The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government"?

2. Why did Kerry say "The threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."

3. Why did Hillary say "Saddam was harboring Al Qaida terrorists"?

4. Why did Hillary say "Saddam was pursuing nuclear weapons"??

After all the headaches we have encountered in Iraq, I hope to hell we do get some oil out of there.

No question. That would have been the ideal. Paying for this 'war' with oil profits made the most sense. There is no evidence that this has, or will, happen.

I dunno about Chads article, but whatever the case, there's no evidence that in any case, that the american taxpayers will get any relief on the basis of Iraqi oil sales.

I wouldn't consider that stealing oil.

funny how the leftist geniuses are just now figuring out that oil was a big factor in this

OMG!!!

Did you really just say that?

If anyone can be bothered, feel free to dig back through the archives of this forum to 12-18 months ago, and you'll find that some of us here have been saying 'oil' all along, while quite a few others were screaming, "WMD", "Democracy", "Terrorists"...in fact, everything but oil.

What a very strange comment that was.

Oil was a GIANT factor in this war. 3 words for you...

OIL FOR FOOD

Saddam illegally used oil to bribe half of Europe into opposing the war.

What's the big shocker??
