kosar said::mj07: Is this the great 'point' that you are referring to: 'maybe if Bush would cheat on his wife the liberals would like him then?'
Yeah, it's tough to beat that logic.
Maybe it was one of Larrys numerous 3rd grade jokes that he posts that you're referring to. Those are great points also.
larryowen said:Point being you democrats can't decide what you want. You point to how Bush never served in the military but clinton was a draft dodger.
You say you are all for sparing a life then decide abortion is a woman choice.
The democrats told Bush do whatever it takes to make america safer he did now you recant.
You tell God you don't want him as part of the public schools or the 10 Commandmets displayed nothing that has anything to do with religion. Then when 9-11 and mostly recently Katrina hit you ask where was God? You have no idea what you really want.
Chadman said:My God, how does one even start in dealing with this post? My God, why would one even bother? The thing is, if you continually let people blather offhand comments about what you believe in that are so ridiculous, sometimes they become part of the accepted mentality for others that form opinions. So, I'll address it...
>>1. You point to how Bush never served in the military but clinton was a draft dodger.<<
Who has been comparing Bush's military service and performance to Clinton's? I think most comparisons in this area deal with Bush/Cheney and John Kerry. Maybe you can provide a link to "liberals" talking up Clinton's military service and Bush's down?
There was a post in here about look who is sending our troops to war.
>>2. You say you are all for sparing a life then decide abortion is a woman choice.<<
Who here was advocating the sparing of a life? I'm guessing you are talking about Tookie Williams? Seems that most of us that lean to the left were commenting on what a good thing it was that he was executed. You did say, "you democrats". I assume you meant us. I'm the one that started the thread about Williams and said what a good thing I thought it was. Not that you should deal with the truth, or anything. As for abortion being a woman's choice, this is definitely a debate that has many issues. Many conservatives support abortion (or the right of choice, whatever), and site the Constitution as a reason. Of course, I would submit that conservatives hold up the Constitution as the ultimate document and should be the defining ruling on most issues. Interesting. This is not an issue I base any political value in when I look at candidates, personally. I understand both sides of the issue, and try to respect them.
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton I believe it is hyprocritical to want to spare the life of a killer then advocate the killing of an unborn child.
>>3. The democrats told Bush do whatever it takes to make america safer he did now you recant.<<<
This democrat never told Bush to do whatever it took to make us safer, if it meant doing some of the things he has done. I rarely deal in total black and white absolutes...the issues are too important. In fact, this democrat said we should not go to Iraq for plenty of what I consider good reasons, and instead deal with the real terrorists that attacked us. I would never give this administration a free pass to do what they want. They've proven to be a very bad holder of responsibility, in my view.
>>4. You tell God you don't want him as part of the public schools or the 10 Commandmets displayed nothing that has anything to do with religion. Then when 9-11 and mostly recently Katrina hit you ask where was God? You have no idea what you really want.<<
I think God is a part of public schools, for anyone there that believes in God. I also think studying different forms of religion on a historical basis is fine to help understand the world we live in. I do not think advocating any religion, or pushing the value systems of a single religion is appropriate in public schools. My personal opinion. Separation of church and state and all that. That, in my mind, is what church is all about. I personally have no problem with the 10 Commandments being displayed. It does not offend me, and I generally try to follow them. But I can see the argument about public monies paying for that, and can understand those who don't think it's appropriate.
That last line is a real puzzler to me. I didn't ask where God was when 9-11 and Katrina hit us. I don't think most people who didn't live through the Hell of both tragedies did. I can understand those that may have been so terribly affected by the two disasters questioning God, if that's what they felt. Really not for me to say, I don't think. I don't blame God for things, usually.
I think I know what I want, pretty much. If I don't know, I try to seek out information to help me figure it out. You guys that paint people with your broad paintbrushes, name call, and label things negatively that you don't agree with...now that signals someone who doesn't really care about people, or maybe even finding out that you could be wrong about something. You know what you want, and can't be told anything else, because it's wrong.
Sad.
larryowen said:The point is that on many of the Katrina and 9-11 boards I was reading the main topic was where is God. I don't believe the 10 Commandments are so bad to be displayed if fact if Tookie would of followed them he would still be alive.

larry, do you know how many of the Commandments you and billions of God-fearers around the world break week in and week out?
(yet somehow the whacked out, hippy, logically challenged liberals are the hypocrits  )
