Thought all along BC has the much stronger team "on paper" but was concerned with the "don't care" factor that BC probably has by not really wanting to be in this bowl...now with the pending resignation of Boise's head coach and the fact he will be taking almost his entire coaching staff with him, gotta think this now warrants a BC play, as it most likey negates any "don't care" attitude...can't see Boise having a "win one for the gipper" attitude...think they lay down and get rolled by a much more physical and talented team...only fear is this now will most likely be a very public play as well...

The fact that BC has won 6 straight bowl games makes me think they are the squad that DOES CARE.

i think the coaching changes at midmajors have to be capped differently from coaching changes at the bcs and power conference schools.

boise has been, and always will be, a springboard job.

no coach takes the boise coaching job and thinks he's going to retire there. the administration knows that. it's pretty much tacitly agreed upon that if the big schools come calling, its only fair for the coach to listen.

dirk koetter didnt plan on retiring at boise.
and neither did dan hawkins.

everyone at bowling green knew urban meyer was going to leave at some point. same with everyone at utah.

this is a PROMOTION, and i dont think it can be capped the same way that a lateral move (i.e. if mike belotti were to go from oregon to colorado) or a firing or a coach leaving the players for the pros.

if anything, i think boise rallies around hawkins the same way utah rallied around meyer last year in the fiesta bowl.

hawkins isnt bailing on boise.
in fact, he's only giving more credibility to the bronco program by being the 2nd coach to take a major college job after starting off in idaho.
