NCAA BB

Hofstra -13 -115

The Pride returns 4 straters of a team that went 21-9 a season ago and its now looking for its 1st CAA title this season. The pride is deadly in the backcourt as G's Loren Stokes 18.3 ppg 6.1 rpg 3.5 apg, Antoine Agudio 15.1 ppg 3.2 rpg, and Carlos Rivera 7.4 ppg 2.9rpg, form a formidable trio of exciting and explosive offense. This rotation of guards gave many fits last season and it will continue to give teams trouble this season as any of them can score at will. This 3 headed monster will be even more productive this season as another year of experience under the belt is exactly what they needed to take their game into the next level. The frontcourt is solid with F Aurimas Kieza 7.8 ppg 5.2 rpg. The pride is just the better team here having the advantage on many facets of the game such as ppg, fg%, Defense, Rebounding.........

On the other side of this match up we got Dartmouth a team that only returns 2 starters from a team that went 10-17 a year ago and 7-7 in the IVY. This team is YOUN and the only 2 starters coming back F Calvin Arnold and F Chuck Flynn only avg. 10.5ppg between both of them. The rest of the line up will be full of fresman and sophomores. G Mike Lang who was outstanding coming off the bench a year ago will have to carry a big load this season and IMO he just does not have the offensive capabilities to be the go to guy. This team will struggle all year long and today they are outmatch in every facet of the game. I look for Hofstra to take the lead early in this game and Put Dartmouth away late in the 2nd half for a 20+ point victory......

Well looking to finish up the card with this one . If Hofstra comes out a winner I may double up on Portland U as I love this game, if not, I will stick to MM here and will be looking for a 1-1 day....

Portland U +11.5 -110

The Portland Pilots come into this season after getting 15 victories last year, the schools best record in over a decade, and expecting to top that mark this season. The Pilots return 4 starters and the the teams top 5 scorers from a season ago. The team strength is in the backcourt as they play a rotation of 5 guards and all getting significant minutes. Seniors Pooh Jeter, Darren Cooper and Donald Wilson provide a lot of experience and leadership at this position. Jeter is coming off a 15.2 ppg season, Cooper from a 11.4ppg season and Wilson from a 8.4ppg 4.2rpg season. This trio is deadly from the perimeter and will probably be the best backcourt in the WCC and that includes powerhouse Gonzaga. Adding to the mix of outstanding guards is WCC All freshman team F Marcus Lewis who gives the pilots the inside presence to contend for the WCC title this season. Lewis avg. 9.1ppg 5.6rpg and is expected to be much better this year with a year under the belt. C Ben Sullivan is a solid player who is coming off a 8.7ppg 4.5rpg season. The pilots will also have depth in the frontcourt as Oregon state transfer kevin Field, should give the pilots quality minutes and great play of the bench. Even though Porland U started 4-5 they have a 3 game winning streak going and are coming off a convincing victory over Oregon State which will give this team the confidence they need to play a great game tonight....

Washington State is coming into this season with 2 returning starters from a team that finished the season 12-16 a year ago. To make matters worse they lost the top 2 scorers in G Thomas Kelati and F Jeff Varem. The cougars do return promising PG Derrick low who had a very impressive 2nd half last season adjusting to HC Dick Bennett style of play. He should be even better this year but with lack of offensive firepower this may not be enough for the cougars to have a decent season in the PAC 10. The cougars are an excellent 4-1 at home with its only lost to BYU, but they really haven't played anyone. I think the lack of offensive playmakers in the cougars side tonight, will enable the pilots to stay in the game. I do not know if the Pilots have enough to pull out the win on the road but an upset would not surprise me at all.......
