does it seem like Farve and the Packers have been on every MNF and SNF game this season?
I don't understand why they can't switch around SNF and MNF to better games?
My guess is Madden can't drive his fat ass to the game on a short notice.

Man, I was about to post the same exact thing! :scared

We can again listen to Madden extoil the greatness of Favre, his heart, grit, etc. Damn MNF turns into a chick flick.

FIRST OFF, MADDEN IS A DECENT COMMENTATER.....HE KNOWS HIS STUFF....THESE GAMES ARE PRE SET WAY BEFORE SEASON BEGINS....IF THEY CHANGE THESE GAMES THAT WOULD ALTAR WHOLE SCHEDULE.....AND BY THE WAY MADDEN IS RIGHT ABOUT FAVRE'S GRIT, HEART, ETC.....MADDEN IS A HELL OF A LOT BETTER THAN THEISMAN OR MAGUIRE, AND FOR THAT MATTER BETTER THAN MOST ANALYISTS

Madden is a good, entertaining analyist, however you have to agree that Favre has gotten a free pass for the better part of the last 5 years, especially this year. There are many players with similar "grit and determination" who were accountable for their bad play and were benched. Let's face it, the Packers spent a first rounder on a QB who 's thrown one pass in a 3-10 year. There's no excuse for that, Favre needs to put his ego aside and let the kid get some snaps. If Favre decides to come back and be the starter next year so be it, the Packers have made it obvious that they won't be pulling him out of that role until he retires. But at least then he'd have a slightly more experienced backup for next year incase he goes down. It's just the right thing to do for the team.

well, we've seen that the best college qb's cant come right in and play.....few exceptions.....farve is green bay,if favre gets benched, they would be death threats to sherman as well as the front office... farve has had stellar career.....he deserves to play until he is crippled...he is the cal ripken, jr of football......and its not like he has the best supporting cast playing with him either

IMHO, it's time for the Packers to face reality and look to the future. I respect Favre and what he has done with his career, but nobody wants to see him go out like this. I don't think the Packers can turn it around in the next few years either, so why not tell Favre they will get him to a team he can help win, or just have him hang it up. Hate to see the great ones go, but it's tough watching him struggle week after week. It's a novel thought that he has "earned" the right to go out when he wants, but another season like this and the Packers will HAVE to make a move. The object of the game is to WIN not let a once proud quaterback dictate his own terms.

with all due respect, farve still is a good qb.....go out and get him some playmakers other than peolple like franks and gato or whatever his name is.....they have no running game, no one to throw to, whats the man to do......he has thrown several interceptions this season and his rating is horrid, but hes trying to make up for their lack of depth and do too much....if he has a runner like ladanian and receiver like moss, they make it to playoffs.....spend some money and get some personnel.......and by the way, change coaches

Madden knows his stuff as far as football knowledge, somehow- with him it does not transcend into his commentating. He is horrible. King of stating the obvious. I like Madden, I have always been a Raiders fan, I just can't stand his commentating. (BOOM, BANG).

Saying he's the Ripken of football isn't a fair comparison. Ripken at 3B did not kill the team; he played very solid D, and had a little pop even towards the end of his career. He batted low in the lineup, and was a serviceable player. Favre, however, is the centerpiece of the team. Everything revolves around him, so you just can't afford to keep him starting year after year if he keeps declining like this. Eventually the fans will turn and his image will be tarnished. For many years Favre COULD carry mediocrity, he simply can't now. I don't doubt that he could succeed with better people around him; I see him putting up a great year in a budding offense like Miami or Arizona. But in this current situation he's going downhill quick, and it's sad because he's making a mockery of himself.

Just to make clear I said nothing about Madden's commentary or his analysis of the game. I wish he was still coaching rather than sitting the booth. Nor did I say anyting about Farve's ability to still play the game. But I did make a comment about Madden's fear of flying and weight. And I still think games could be moved to different times without too much trouble. Because of this shit game now I know I am going to end up Christmas shopping with my girlfriend and getting in that damn holiday traffic!
